Rating: Summary: Disagree with bad reviews Review: I will agree that her other 2 novels, "Tall Dark and Deadly" and "Drop Dead Gorgeous" were a bit more intense. However, In my opinion this was a great novel. Strong characters and great love story with a major twist. I had no clue who the murderer was. Great buy!!
Rating: Summary: Another winner by Heather Graham! Review: If have never read a Heather Graham mystery/romance book, then you are really missing out! I love her writing style, it's the perfect mix of suspense and mystery with a dash of romance thrown in for fun! This book, the first of a trilogy, takes place on the set of Valentine Valley, a popular day time soap. Jennifer Connolly has become a daytime diva almost overnight, but somewhere in the background a killer is stalking the show. He's killing his victims with refrence to Hitchcock movies and, of course almost every character in this book likes Hitchcock! Aside from the killings, this book also has several sub plots. Jennifer has fallen hard for her co-star, Conor Markham and also has to deal with her mother's failing health. My only complaint is how immature these characters acted at times! Getting into fights and then slamming doors and stomping off down the hallway, for example. It reminds me of how I acted as a teenager, trying to irk my mom, not as an adult! Over all, this was a really fun, quick read though. I liked it so much that after I finished it, I immediately started reading Dying to Have Her.

Rating: Summary: Hideous heroine...silly storyline...dumb dialogue Review: Jennifer is a 28-year-old soap opera actress. She is living with her ill mother, Abby, who has been hearing voices and talking to "people in the walls." Abby also believes that she has received letters threatening Jennifer's life, so Abby has called on her stepson, Conar, also an actor, to return to Hollywood to protect Jennifer. When young actresses start turning up dead "Hitchcockian style," everyone begins taking the "threats" against Jennifer seriously. Jennifer is an idiot. When she's not having elementary school jealousies about her mother's affection for Conar, she's making a complete fool out of herself: Drinking until she throws up, tripping up stairs, making lustful sexual innuendoes when she REALLY only means to insult Conar, bumping into doors, "accidentally" flashing her breasts in public places ... And Conar, well, he just spends most of his time laughing at her. Oh, and let's not forget Abby telling Jennifer that Jennifer really should have sex more often; then she wouldn't be so cranky. Ooh, yeah! We've come along way, baby! Early on in the book, Conar and Jennifer are told, and are given proof, that there are secret passages in their house. Both feel as if "they are being watched" most of the time. Do either of these characters experience natural, human curiosity and try to search out those passageways? Do either of them think that maybe someone could be hiding in those hidden passageways? Oh, no. They just sleep with baseball bats close to hand and inanely wonder if "a house could have eyes." So much to gripe about ... so little space! Save yourselves! :-)
Rating: Summary: SOAP OPERA MURDER Review: LONG, LEAN AND LEATHAL was an average read, not great, but not bad. Someone is murdering people associated with the soap opera, Valentine Valley, copying the style of Alfred Hitchcock. It appears that the beautiful actress, Jennifer, is next on the list to meet her movie-style end. A large cast of characters with varying reasons to commit murder keeps the reader interested and guessing. A romance develops between Jennifer and the previously, much-despised Conar, which will prove beneficial in the end. A strong point to this story is that I could not guess the murderer until it was revealed. Then everything fell neatly into place. A negative is that there did not appear to be a connection between the story and the title.

Rating: Summary: Long, Lean and Lethal Review: Long, Lean and Lethal by Heather Graham The title of this book is very corny, but fortunately the title is the worst part of this book. This is a fun mystery mixed in with a little bit of a love story. It's along the lines of Mary Higgins Clark with a little less on the substance and more concentration on the romance. Long, Lean and Lethal starts off lightly and gradually draws you in. This mystery is set in Los Angeles and centers around a soap opera set. However, this book puts much more emphasis on the mystery and less on the soap opera than one would expect. Jennifer Connolly's ailing mother fears for her daughter's life. Mom's credibility isn't so great though, because she has Parkinson's disease and is heavily medicated. At some times she is quite lucid and at other times she's.....not. Mom AKA Abby calls in a favor from a former stepson through marriage, to help protect Jennifer. Immediately upon Conar's arrival, the body of a well known actress is found very near Abby and Jennifer's house. The author does a wonderful job of making the reader suspect just about everyone in the book, while not tipping her hand at all. I had no idea (and I'm pretty good...wink,wink) who the murderer was until he was actually revealed. I loved that! I think you will too.
Rating: Summary: Another great mystery from Heather Graham! Review: Not many books can keep me guess at "whodunit", but this one did! Like her previous titles, Drop Dead Gorgeous and Tall, Dark and Deadly, Heather Graham throws red herrings and big plot twists at you, so the final bad guy, when revealed, comes as a big surprise. Jennifer and Conar were enjoyable characters, but Abby was my favorite. The other background characters interested me alot. I found myself looking for more scenes with Serena, Liam and Kelly. Hopefully, this will be rectified in the next two books of the trilogy. My biggest complaint of the book is the epilogue. It moves very brokenly, like it was thrown in at the end to appease readers who would want to know what happened to Jennifer and Conar. Knowing that this book was the first of a trilogy, I have to admit the epilogue didn't seem necessary to me, the other two books could have covered the same info just as well. Otherwise, this was a great book. I can't wait until the next two are available!
Rating: Summary: Another great mystery by Heather Graham! Review: Not many romance-mystery books keep me guessing at "whodunit", but this one did. Like her previous titles, Tall, Dark and Deadly and Drop Dead Gorgeous, this one doesn't give away the bad guy until the final pages. The characters of Jennifer and Conar worked well together, but Abby was my favorite. Since this is a trilogy, hopefully she will make appearances in the next two books. The background characters were interesting, but very one-dimensional. I found myself wanting to see Serena, Liam and Kelly more (set up for the next books? ). The only major complaint I have is the epilogue. It seemed to move very quickly, like it was an afterthought, to please the reader as to what happens to Jennifer and Conar. All in all, I really enjoyed this book. Just can't wait for the next two!
Rating: Summary: Sorry, but this book STUNK ! Review: Not the usual great book from Heather Graham. The heroine was a complete ninny and the story line was very very weak. I really love her books, normally, but I had to struggle to finish this clunker.
