Rating: Summary: A Wonderful, Intriguing Medical Novel Review: Dr. McBurney has used his extensive and varied medical experience to weave a novel that is both captivating and enlightening. His book is set in rural America. It is about two freshmen doctors who set out to make their mark in the world. Little did they know that the world was bent on doing the same to them.Although rural America sounds pretty tame, know that it has the same blessing and curses as the rest of the world: Sex, violence, jealousy, murder, rape, kindness, caring and connection. These ingredients of the human condition are as much a part of the tapestry of rural America as they are of the urban milieu. This book explores every corner of that human condition and shies away from nothing. Dr. McBurney gives us a wonderful mosaic of characters that bob in and out of this exciting and alluring book. His characters are both authentic and complex, familiar yet full of surprises. This beautiful book both entertains and instructs, and does so without being offensive or vulgar. It is rife with character and quality and well worth the money. This book would make a great gift for med school students, those who aspire to be doctors and those who love to read quality books that tell fascinating, imaginative and fulfilling stories that touch the reader in a gentle and loving way.
