Summary: American Fiance' or Hunting for the Black Russian
Review: This book is amazing!!! It never failed to keep my intrest though it had some low points (excitement wise), but don't worry they don't last for too long. It is also so funny that I must admit it had me laughing out loud quite a few times. On a more serious note, it opened my eyes as to what life is really like for Russians. Its very intresting to learn about a different culture other than the "American" way of life. This book does exactly that!! It takes you into a new world with real life situations adding exictment to the book and teaches you about the culture and life-style you would never be able to hear or really see for yourself. In short.... it is an educational and funny book all wrapped into one.

Summary: I don't normally read this sort of book, but...
Review: This book kept my attention from cover to cover! I really found the author's style of writing enthralling as it gives me the feeling of actually being there! Some that read this work might cringe at the imperfect grammar, punctuation, etc., but those very "negatives" brought to the front some of the differences in our languages as well as cultures. It makes me want to learn more about Russian society, past, present, and the futures that they face. I also liked reading of history from the Russian point-of-view, again this helped to hold my attention. The only thing I can add is - Bring on the sequel! (Thanks to Amanda for opening my eyes to something other than sci-fi.)

Review: When I first started to read this book I thought it is going to be another love story. To my surprise it was adventure, travel, and love story in one. Reading this book I understood that even though American and Russian people are different in many aspects, at the same time we are very similar. Characters are adventurous, funny, they express many human feelings when are faced with unknown, and most important - they place frendship above all.
I can see that this author is a beginner in writing - some parts of the book drag for too long. However, humor cuts some monotonous parts in the half. I gave this book to my friend (she is from the "Eastern Block"). She said to me, that she was laughing all the way to the end, and so did I.
I look forward to read the next book from this author.
