Summary: Page turner for adults especially women.
Review: The book is great!! I read Even Now for a number of reasons. I expected a good read because I have read other things by Sondra B. Johnson. This book is better than "good"... it is excellent! I would highly recommend it for women with work driven husbands and who have teenage children going off to college,and they feel emotionally abandoned. The central figure, a woman of forty, feels unattractive and that she has lost her youth to raising her family and a husband to younger women. Her husband is messing around and chasing younger beautiful women and she is too worn out to really care. She goes to the funeral of a friend and runs into her first love and the sparks fly. Suddenly, she feels life flowing in her body again. There is murder and suspense, and an ending that will haunt the reader. Sondra B.Johnson was editor for many years to the well known Christian writer Catherine Marshall, author of Christy, but this is a not "Christian" book. Even Now does have a moral theme that will stick in the reader's mind and raise the anger of some groups. The story will be interesting for male readers, who may have strayed, because there are examples of good and bad decisions males can relate to. Women may want there husbands to read this with them. Sondra B. Johnson is an author who entertains and lures you into her web of suspense and you will not able put the book aside. I hope she has another book coming soon.
