Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Gritty, hard-boiled action.
Review: Lost in all the political correctness of current crime and mystery literature is the plain spoken prose and proletariat violence of some of the pulp fictions from the forties, fifties and sixties. Even solid standbys like Elmore Leonard and Robert B. Parker have softened their characters to appeal to the Oprah set. Arneberg makes no attempt to lessen the impact of his images. The writing is undissembled, without distracting frills. Every word seems to contribute directly to the story. A compact, word-churning read.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Great action.
Review: Once again, Arneberg is not sqeamish about delivering hard-nosed action. Great read for crime fans.
