Summary: Johnny Astronaut Rockets To The Top!
Review: It's about time someone makes reading fun again! Rory Carmichael has put an original spin on an age old genre. If you like Iceberg Slim, Charles Willeford, Charles Bukowski, Fante, Jim Beam or Hank Williams you'll love this book. If you don't like those guys you'll still like this book, trust me.
Johnny Astronaut is one of the most likeable losers in literature to date. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll laugh so hard you'll cry. A truly hilarious read.
On top of great writing there is an unusual plot twist that only newcomer Rory Carmichael could pull off. Mark my words, others will try but none will come close to the genius of Johnny Astronaut.
A must read for those who are looking for something new and exciting.
Nothing out there even comes close to this book, so I'm reading it again.

Summary: The lovechild of Buckaroo Bonzai and Mike Hammer
Review: Trashy, fast, tasteless good fun! You can read this book twice in one sitting and still not get bored. When they repackage this book, it should come with a Johnny Astronaut intergalactic disco dance video. (I'd be willing to direct the video if you guys at CP are interested--hint/nudge.) Rory should turn this into a series. I can see it easily becoming the next big Dr. Who phenomenon.

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: Very few books make me laugh out loud. "Catcher in the Rye", Paul Feig's "Kick Me" and Ethan Coen's "Gates of Eden" come to mind, but those are practically anomalies. However, "Johnny Astronaut" had me laughing constantly. If you embarrass easily, it's a book that you won't want to read in public because people will look at you funny for cackling to yourself. Fortunately, I don't have that problem and this psycho blend of comedy, sci-fi, and old-fashioned noir was one of the most entertaining books I've ever read. Highly recommended!
