Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: WOW! Review: I got an advanced reading copy of Good As Dead at the National Book Convention in LA this summer. The author was on hand to sign it, which was terrific! This is a very different kind of read--twisted, violent, graphic and outlandishly funny. I never wanted it to end and I'll probably find myself reading it a second time as soon as the buzz wears off from the first read.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Trinny Lawson - professional (well read) traveler Review: I must say, although I tend to shy away from 'graphic' novels, this one really hooked me. The way that the author combines unspeakable acts of violence hand in hand with a cutting sense of humor is really what got me. I understand he is currently working on his upcoming novel?? I hate to admit it, but I am really looking forward to the follow up. If you can get past the brutality...it is really a great read and in parts quite funny.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: avid reader Review: I too received a signed copy of Good As Dead. In this book, John McGowan masterfully balances graphic gore with a sharp sense of humor to produce a read that is hard to put down and ends all too soon. At times I found myself appalled and others laughing out loud. As GOD moves along, the level of humor rises in direct proportion to the body count. This is an entertaining read and I can't wait for the next one.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Interesting debut... Review: That John McGowan dude has one twisted, whacky sense of humor. This darkly comic tale of a hit man with what passes for a heart of gold is at times really disturbing instead of funny...but I think that's what the author meant accomplish. I was never quite sure what he had in store for us, which made GAD an entertaining read; at times laugh-out-loud funny and at times weird and unsettling. A very interesting debut.
