Rating: Summary: Complicated Conspiracies Prevail Review: If you like complicated conspiracies, you'll love this book. Everyone seems to be scheming against everyone else. No one knows who's a friend and who's an enemy. Which side is the girl really on? What sort of secret weapon keeps blowing people up? Why are people disappearing from Europe? What, exactly, is the CIA up to? Who killed the computer geek? Who blew up a powerful politician? Who is doing what to who, and why are they doing it?
Set a few years in the future, The Mecca Connection's primary world is a Europe that has been conquered by militant Islam. Christian Europeans are subject to Sharia law, and the same Sunni/Shia factional differences that divide the Islamic world today continue in this future. The hero, a British/Egyptian intelligence officer sent to ferret out some of the byzantine conspiracies, spends much of his time on the run from the powerful men who have framed him for a murder, while others are bent on starting another world war.
If you like Robert Ludlum's books, you should love this one. It would make a great movie.
Rating: Summary: Riveting, fast-paced adventure! Review: This book truly makes you turning pages compulsively. Once you get started, its very hard to put this literary pearl down. Unlike the many books that are over-hyped nowadays, yet lack the proper writing style, and even talent, The Mecca Connection is everything but a let down.
The characters are compelling, and easy to identify with. You will often find yourself rooting for our protagonist. The action is fast-paced, and keeps you constantly engrossed.
I'm usually not too fond of spy novels, but I don't regret acquiring this book for a minute. I've already borrowed it to excited roommates. Ignore the big names for a change, and buy this book. I know you'll love it!
