Summary: Detailed facts with scientific action and emotional drama
Review: Detailed sources of information, facts combined with third eye vision kept me on the seat from the moment I opened the book until, the hard covered ending. Never a dull moment, pictured verbal details, leaves this book to grow into an Award Movie Production. This author is very vivid within her detailed description in every categorization. Makes one think, just how we walk in ignorance during the last second of our lives, and not know who /what Govern. heads are given the power to end so many lives without even a mire thought, and how many special people give their lives for people around the world, for their safty, and not be recognized for their giving of their own lives. Indeed this book is more than a fiction, the facts are causing one to open their minds, eyes and hearts.

Summary: Non Stop Reading
Review: from the minute i started reading "ARMAGEDDON AT DEFCON 1", i couldn't stop myself, much less put it down. I turned each page in anxious anticipation of the next page. Ms Houston reached out and pulled me into her story and did not release me until the final word. her description of characters and events was outstanding. reading this book was like watching a movie.

Review: good subject with great characters. Ms.Houston's descriptions and details of events took you to the action and the scenes. I enjoyed the plot

Summary: The concept? Great. The book? Bleh.
Review: Like I said, the plot in its simplest form was a good idea, but it was implemented pretty poorly. Armageddon at Defcon 1 may be an OK read for people who don't demand thoughtful and refined writing. This novel would have been more interesting had it been written by Tom Clancy. Armageddon at Defcon 1 would have made a good movie, or an even better comic book.

Summary: Independence Day Style
Review: This book reminded me of the movie Independence Day. That is the only thing I can compare it to. If you take away the aliens and replace them with nuclear weapons that is what the book is like. This book can not be compared to any other book because there is no other book quite like it. The bar has been raised in the thriller genre.

I was a little reluctant to buy a book that was written by a woman on what I consider a testosterone subject. Okay. I was wrong. I admit it. It was a fast read with action that kept me turning the pages. I literally could not put it down.

Summary: Armageddon at Defcon 1
Review: This is undoubtedly the poorest written novel I have read in fifty years! The dialogue is written at the level of an 8th grader. On top of this, there are innumerable technical errors. For example, "President of the CIA!" No cabinet member holds the title "President." Ballistic missiles carrying "bombs?" Missiles, all missiles, are tipped with warheads, not bombs. For a person who has a master's degree and eight years experience in the federal government, Ms. Houston certainly doesn't demonstrate her knowledge in print.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: great reading
Review: This was good reading with great characters. She knew her subject well and described events that took you there
