Rating: Summary: Astonishing! Review: From the first page to the last page, you would never know this book is Rick Guy's first published work.He knows how to capture your attention, keeping you reading from page to page, from chapter to chapter. Most books, you get to a "stopping" place, and put it down. Not this one, you will have to force yourself to put it down. The wonderful cover gives you the idea of civil rights in the 1960's. But, this book gives a positive picture of those times. The book is based on present day with Alan Scott attempting to solve a murder committed in the 60's. Guy gives Scott such intelligence and personality, you really don't think you are reading fiction. The entire book is so realistic, Guy is a master at details. All of the characters in the book come to life as you read about them. You will feel as if you know them when you are finished. When you finish this book, you will be begging for more words from Rick Guy. Look out, literary world, this guy can really write!
Rating: Summary: a must read. totally engrossing until the end. Review: This first time effort, from freshman writer Rick Guy is an awe inspiring mind trip through the deep south. The novel, full of mystery and intrigue, twists and turns its way into the depths of the human psyche. The details were so vivid you could almost feel the characters heart beat as if it were your own. Alan Scott, a reporter, is sent on assignment to cover a mysterious car pulled from a lake that had human remains in the seat. Scott begins to investigate and becomes completely obessed with discovering who this person is and how he got there. A must read for any mystery/ suspense fan. I am eagerly anticipating his next novel.
