Rating: Summary: A great new author Review: I have read all of Tom Clancy's novels along with Dale Brown and all the other authors of that genre. He covers the technical aspects wonderfully. I felt like I was right there the whole time. It helps that he is from the town I live in so when he describes the places in Minot you know where he is talking about. I think Boughey will go far in this business. I hope he will write another book.
Rating: Summary: Hurray for a new author Review: I have read every one of Tom Clancy's "Jack Ryan" books, most every Robert Ludlum book, and the majority of Fredrick Forsyth's books. What fun to see a new author join them in being able to tell an exciting, informative, and suspenseful story. Boughey does the sort of research Clancy did for "Red October", both regarding technical issues and to show a glimpse into present day Russia. (He includes pictures he took at all of the locations in his book during his visits there, including locations in Russia and the right seat of a B-52.) Just as Clancy did, Boughey starts his career as a writer with a bang. If Clancy and Boughey release their next books the same day, it will be hard to decide which to read first. I'll certainly read them both. I thoroughly enjoyed Mission to Chara.
Rating: Summary: Mission to Chara, A Cold War Thriller Review: I was captivated by the technical accuracy, the insightful look at Russian culture, and the suspenseful plot. I, also, have been a zealous fan of Tom Clancy novels dealing with military adventures and rank Lynn Boughey's work with the same esteem. As a former commander of the 5th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Minot AFB, North Dakota, I know his background and applaud his efforts and his recognition of a tremendous group of dedicated people. I eagerly look forward to his next book. Keep it up, Lynn!

Rating: Summary: Time well spent Review: It is nice to get a chance to read a book that is well researched and well written. I found the story so compelling I didn't notice the time passing. I guess the best thing I can say is I enjoyed the book so much I bought several copies to give as gifts.

Rating: Summary: Technical Manual Review: This is a great book if you are looking for a technical manual. If you are looking for any characterization, however, don't waste your time. The characters are little more than cardboard cutouts serving to prop up the real star of the story, an inanimate object, the aircraft. No real craft in the storytelling, very cold and distant.
