Summary: Conspiracy and Sex and in the former East Germany
Review: I hope this gives any interested reader an opportunity to find out a little about this book. This is a story based on lots of personal experiences and facts and, of course, on fantasy about the former East Germany. In particular it deals with a conspiracy among high level party members of the former GDR and high ranking officers of the West German Bundeswehr, to engineer the creation of a unifed but neutral German state (before 1990). The plot includes glimpses of the Lybian connection and the bombing of the Berlin Discotheque, glimpses as well of the private lives of some of these high ranking westerners and easterners who, long before the wall came down, had many and varied contacts among each other. The protagonist is a the angry wife of the major GDR figure, a Colonel in the GDR secret Police. She has been involved in a Lesbian relationship with the wife of a well known American singer who lived in the GDR for many years and who died just before the wall came down. Well, the rest is probably clear enough from the title which is taken from the national epic of German Literature, the Song of The Nibelungen and which provided as well the plot for Lang's famous silent film called The Nibelungenlied. The second part of the story deals with Kriemhild, Siegfried's widow, exacting vengeance for the murder of her husband by her brothers and their vassal, Hagen. It is, of course, all fiction, just like Russia House by Le Carre was all fiction too. I hope you enjoy it.

Summary: the east was not just red
Review: The other side of the world's most boring country - the former GDR. And the other side, furnished here with great detail, makes it appear as if the place was pretty wild, at least some of the people in the place were. A conspiracy to unify the two former German states under the joint leadership of the maverick party leadership and the old Prussian military caste in West Germany is foiled when the conspirators run afoul of a beautiful woman whose female lover has been killed by these men. This Kiremhild lives up to her namesake's reputation in both the Lang film and the original epic, and the men must pay and pay.
