Summary: Hungarian Super Sleuth
Review: I like novels to be short and move fast; if possible I like to read a novel in a single long session. "The Rat Catcher" is my kind of novel; it realy moves fast. There are excellent description of places as far apart as Hungary and Los Angeles, and an interesting woman protagonist who seems so real that I am almost convinced that such a person really did exist. We know that the Israeli Mossad has tracked down Nazi war criminals who escaped to South America; this woman seems to know all the Mossad tricks plus a few of her own. The bad guys are convincingly bad; not super bad guys, but those who are so real because they show all the ordinary nastiness of the true criminal, showing what somone once called the banality of evil. Our heroine carrying out justice agsaint the Holocaust perpetrators finds interesting ways for them to die; quite scary really. I recommend this book as a very enjoyable read.
