Rating: Summary: "A Portrait Of Emily" by J.P. Bowie Review: For those of you hoping for a sequel to "A Portrait Of Phillip" that is equally as passionate and suspensful as the first, here's the good news: "A Portrait Of Emily" is all that, and then some. J.P. Bowie has taken some of the original characters from his first epic novel, and has introduced a variety of new ones as well. We still have Peter, the artist/ central character from "Phillip", who is commissioned to paint a new portrait, this time of a girl named Emily. Emily has a deep, dark past, one that reveals itself as the story progresses. Peter, who in the last book restled with his own dark past, finds in Emily a kindred spirit. He, along with Jeff, his lover who is also a private de- tective, help Emily to free herself from a family curse that has plagued her since childhood. This quest involves twists and turns that prove to be intriguing and ultimately extremely dangerous for Jeff, as well as Emily's brother, Anthony, who along with Emily has his own share of family skeletons to deal with. As with "Phillip", Bowie keeps us on the edge of our seats, unraveling his murder mystery with a multitude of clues that lead up to a rather startling and climactic conclusion. Once again, we are drawn into a battle of good vs. evil, and again are reminded that love, friendship, trust, and courage can overcome any form of hate and despair, no matter how threatening. Bowie's writing is, as always, clever, humorous, insightful, and articulate. A definate must for those seeking quality reading that is intelligent and thoroughly entertaining. I'm already looking forward to "Portrait" #3!

Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down Review: I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Emily". I just couldn't put it down. Every chapter I thought I had it figured out and then to find out I was wrong. The suspense was wonderful. I became involved in the life of each charactor. I highly recommend this both and look forward to the next installment by Bowie.

Rating: Summary: More please, J.P. Bowie !! Review: What I find so especially marvelous about the characters in the authorship of J. P. Bowie's " A Portrait of Emily " is how REAL they become to the reader. Having been fortunate enough to have read Bowie's first opus, the both engaging & exiting " A Portrait of Philip " , I was quite honestly a bit concerned, if my high expectations could be met! Let me just plainly say that "Emily " far surpassed my doubts & fears !! We get to know the "friends", we met and fell in love with in "Philp" even more intimately ( IN ALL WAYS !! ) Bowie has a beautiful, easy flowing way of writing ; a wonderful playful way of entertaining the reader , and on top of that ,the command of prose is very satisfying, without being stuffy or trying to show off. I find that many other authors today like to "dazzle" us with their abillity to use the dictionary on their computers, Bowie manages very eloquantly & in an easy , elegant way to entertain & to involve us in the intriguing plots & relationships. Can't wait to read more about my new best friends & families; therefore : MORE PLEASE , J. P. BOWIE !!!
