Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Unrelenting Suspense Paired With Wry Humor
Review: Heywood Steele's second novel is not just an average serial killer thriller, but a story of one man's psychological breakdown as he trails his missing wife. Steele's prose has improved by light years and he easily surpasses his brilliantly hilarious first novel as he brings back some of the same characters and introduces a few new ones.

We have the return of Dorf Brentson, ex-private detective who takes a case to help out a stranger in need and ends up losing his wife in a stakeout gone awry. He teams up with the ghost of his best friend, Clay Shelborn, and an exotic dancer named Karma Sutra, and the results are sometimes riotous, sometimes tearjerking. Steele also introduces a paranormal side to the equation. We get a glimpse of the afterlife and an immortal named Krenshaw, who does all he can to help save the life of Dorf's wife. There is also a subplot about a lonely couple who share a macabre and somewhat gothic love affair with a conclusion that will leave you speechless. This is a story you don't want to miss.

The four short stories included at the end are amusing and fast paced reads. SEE a day in the life of a Grim Reaper! SEE the fight against an underground organization known as CHAD! SEE the origins of singer Johnny Reno! EXPLORE the buxom breasts of a damsel in distress! It's all here, ladies and gentlemen! Some of them have been published before but if you haven't read them, now is your chance!
