Review: After years in the mean streets of South America chasing -- and filming -- the drug lords and their pawns for news network documentaries, Stephen Fleischman brings his experiential strengths to fiction in this stirring adventure/love story. Like in the film TRAFFIC, Fleischman's main characters understand the folly of the US government's sometimes shady attempts to curb the flow of drugs across the borders. But Fleischman also explores the corruption within the news agencies when his hero is asked to overlook some all too obvious details. Fleischman writes with confidence and tenderness, walking a fine line that welcomes both male and female readers into his writer's world. A great read -- fiction with factual inspiration.
