Rating: Summary: Choices of a lifetime Review: Sure, this is a mystery, a thriller, but I also found in this story as I journeyed along with protagonist Shannon; romance, intimacy, betrayal, prejudice, interracial issues as well as intrigue. This novel has all of these and more. It is a thoughtful dissection of many life decisions that present themselves to young people today. This is the story of a personal decision of a young woman influenced by the experience of rape in her past. Her decision will change and influence the loves of those around her. Black Frost examines a relationship with a loving parent, a change in promises and goals made with a lover, and also deals with peer influences that color the view of one's reality. This is an ambitious book made simple. In reaching out to the reader, the author presents a challenge to us to view abortion from a very different angle. She opens the door to choice in this complex life decision and also offers a solution to those women who long to become pregnant and cannot. Today our society pulls the shade over topics that should be exposed in daylight. In spite of all ethical, religious and legal arguments that may be involved (and a few spicy words from the characters), I would offer this very different novel as one that will benefit teenagers and adults alike. The book is a challenge to one's views of choices.
