Summary: "Deception in the Rainshadows" is a Great Read!
Review: ...what an outstanding book. Good mysteries are really hard to come by, but this one is fantastic. It's compelling, intriguing, fascinating, cleaver...everthing a good mystery should be. It's impossible to put down until it's finished because it grabs you early and you don't want to miss anything from beginning to end. The author does an excellent job up setting up the plot, letting the reader really get to know the characters, and drawing the reader in to the story. I have already highly recommended it to many friends. A must read.

Summary: I called in sick...
Review: BRILLIANT? Where did that come from? It honestly makes me wonder if all the reviews here were done by friends or the author himself. I have to say that I struggled through this book after having read a GREAT book, Jonathan Kellerman's BILLY STRAIGHT. To me, this book was a wrong turn down a reading DEAD END. Okay, to be fair, I must explain that 1) the characters were cardboard cutouts, 2) the suspense did not show up at all, and 3) the writer's mastery of good descriptive words is non-existent. I wish this book would have come with a warning label for amature writing.

Summary: I called in sick....
Review: I enjoyed this book very much. The plot keeps you guessing until the end. The characters are interesting and compelling. You can't help but feel for Jonathan. I would highly reccommend this book to any mystery lover; as I have to a number of my friends. The book is easy to read, but not simplistic. The only technique that I found somewhat distracting was the author's use of flashbacks. This is a personal preference as I do not like them in any book. The author made good use of flashbacks when he did used them. I found myself caught up in the story straight through to the end. I look forward to Mr. St. James' next book and plan to go back and read his first book. Please don't take my word for it; pick up the book and read it for yourself!

Summary: Impossible to put down!
Review: I started reading this book on a Saturday afternoon and, regretfully, put it down when I couldn't stay awake any longer. The author draws you into the story so completely that all else is forgotten. The characters seem like people you know and the plot is captivating. I was very impressed. There actually are clues to the ending, unlike other mysteries I've read. Although it's difficult, you CAN figure this one out if you recognize the clues. That made it more fun for me, to solve the mystery along with Detective Kierzek. You just have to read it, period.

Summary: "Deception in the Rainshadows" is a Great Read!
Review: Riley St. James did it again with. His first book, "In the Shadow of the MoonGlades" was great. However, he has surpassed its excellence with "Deception in the Rainshadows". The story was masterfully put together and kept me in suspense until the very end. I judge a book according to whether or not I am able to put it down once I begin reading. "Deception" was a winner. Thank you, Riley St. James. I can hardly wait for your next book!

Summary: I called in sick....
Review: so I could stay home in my favorite jammies and keep reading. Laura's difficult choice recalled events in my life, consequences I've had to live with. The outcome of her decision and the turmoil that followed drew me into the pursuit of Laura's killer. Equally enticing is the determination of Detective Kierzek as he searches for the truth. This deception will make you want to stay home too.

Summary: Riley St. James has another page turner that's brilliant!!
Review: What more can I say about this very talented and gifted writer. As his first book, "Moonglade", it is a book to be read by all. The storyline and his characters can be identified with so much that one tends to feel they are part of the story and the character. A little anger, fear, suspense, sadness and mystery are sure to be felt by the reader. It grabs you on the first page and your hooked, once again by this writers wonderful talent. Thank you Mr. St. James for sharing your talent with us. I'm patiently waiting for your next page turner.
