Rating: Summary: A FANTASTIC PAGE TURNER!!! Review: The ladies from my book club stumbled on this Lady President novel over their summer reading from two of their teenage daughters. My gosh! The way this story is told is as if the author could see the future. The situation in Iraq and Iran, the events from last September, the incidents in Washington, D.C. President Marie Arcola is very much a mirror of what women are going through in todays world. I am a manager of a big company and I can relate to the stereotypes in this novel. Many of my friends who read this book were surprised about the certain prophecies touched upon in this fast-paced story. And we are only two years away from a Presidential election.
Rating: Summary: Ahead of its time!!! Review: Today is Election Day and after September 11th I thought the world was going to be a simpler place. It's not. This Lady President is telling it like it is right here and right now. Choosing a Hispanic woman to be Americas first woman president seemed odd at first, but lets think about the big picture. This is a clever, fun, frightening look at Americas future. Senator Trevor Thomas, Benny, Professor Berger and President Marie Arcola play out an excellent tale of the future. This is one great book!
Rating: Summary: This book will make you think! Review: When my wife and daughter saw the news about Elizabeth Dole running for president, they both became interested in women leaders and politicians around our country and the world. My wife picked up a copy of Lady President for her and her book club, and all of them were very impressed. They said Lady President reads like a history lesson from the future. So, I read the book. This was not the kind of women studies textbook I thought it was going to be. This author has the ability to have you start feeling for President Marie Arcola and Senator Trevor Thomas. Then the suspense begins. The, in between, tales of the United States going to war with China and Russia, as well as the internet laws for gun control and the ground war in Kosovo are pure prophecy. How could this author have known these events before they happened? The accidental bombing of the Chinese Embassy is one of the key connections to this novel and the fact that we may have our first woman president by the next election. This story has no real beginning or end, but it does show how difficult a time President Dole will have with most other male dominated countries. My wife and her book club found about twenty clues leading to the sequel. This author, Mr. Xavier Joseph Carbajal, has a gift of being a clever writer. Keep up the great work. Donald.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, exciting and a powerful messege Review: With everything going on in America, this Lady President book gives you something to think about and something to be proud of. I am working on a book report with some of my friends for school and we choose to write about American presidents and how they make decisions. I'm only fifteen, and my friends are fifteen and sixteen, but we can really identify with the President Arcola character in this story. We have been watching the news and this story talks about Bin Laden, the Taliban and the way these men harm women who want to be doctors or teachers. We think this is a great book for young adults and we have been discussing the ideas in this story.
