Summary: An excellent tribute to women and a terrific story!
Review: Although this novel is a fictional look at America with her first female president, this story was written with great care and respect for women in politics. With the events going on in America and Afghanistan, I am certain many of us will be wondering what the world will be like once we do have a woman leading our country. This author was clever by making President Marie Arcola an army hero from a humble upbringings. I used some of the chapters from this book for one of my political science classes and now the professor and most of the students are writing papers about what America might be like with someone like President Arcola. We also thought the tension between the Iranian Mullahs having to deal with a President Arcola was well written. Now that my professor and my class are interested in this book they are hoping for a sequel. We'll also be watching the next presidential election. We all think there will be a women vice president.

Summary: Lady President is surprisingly terrifying and quasirealistic
Review: I am a San Francisco professor on Sabbatical. I was talking with my daughter about this extraordinary Lady President novel and I have brought it to my sisters attention. We were in New York City during the summer and two weeks after September 11th. Part of my teachings deal with how books and movies mirror our inner egos. In Xavier Carbajal's Lady President novel a tense dramatic statement is introduced for the future of America. Right off the bat, this author causes chaos: America has its first woman vice president and she wants to quit. Vice President Marie Arcolas life is near perfect. She has a wealthy, loving husband, two beautiful children and is ready to relax into a life of writing childrens novels. But terrorism makes the mark. My sister read this book a few months ago and she told me it was like walking through a maze of mirrors. I noticed this author wrote a Jules Verne sequel called Captain Nemo and another work on Edgar Allan Poe. Those other works are very different from this novel. I am curious as to how this author had the intuition to create Lady President. Although Hollywood and other writers have attempted to invent America with its first woman president, they will never come close to what Lady President has to offer. There is a sense of primal fear intertwined with every page. The author takes the lady president and asks us "What do you think? How is America with a woman president?" Now, since my daughter and I read this novel, my sister read it again and brought some interesting theories to light. My husband also read this novel and introduced a totally new revelation of Americas future: all the soldiers, the call to duty and the sacrifices made to fight true evil and our country now becoming a fortress. Mr. Carbajal left the end of this story with us wondering. We still have dozens of unanswered questions. I hope to see a sequel to this marvelous story.

Summary: Lady President is a wonderful story and idea
Review: I am doing a high school paper about women in politics and I read Lady President. It is difficult to understand why women have to struggle in this country and I can identify with President Marie Arcola as she tries to get the generals and senators to cooperate and let her do her job. My teacher brought up this idea of an American woman president in class and the class was divided. Some of my friends read this book and were impressed. My government class has learned alot about other countries from this story. Especially Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan. And the way the Taliban treated women. I think Lady President is ahead of its time and we hope to see another book with President Marie Arcola.

Summary: This is one great story!!!
Review: I found this Lady President in the bargain bin at Borders Books and I started reading about Americas future. I have read this book twice, and although there are some typos, this is a very powerful statement for America and our women in politics. My two daughters are in college and one of them owns her own business. They both bought copies of Lady President and felt the same way I do. This is also a great story of courage and sacrifice. The characters in this story were also great. I especially loved Senator Trevor Thomas. I will introduce this book to my book club at work and I look forward to the sequel. The author left us hanging at the end.

Summary: Great fun and a good look at women in politics.
Review: I had to pick a bunch of books to do my government paper. Lady President was one of the books. My teacher said it was great for a fiction but since there has not been an America woman president I could only use it for entertainment purposes. Still this book was the talk of my class. And I did my paper on other women in American politics. My older sister and my mom read Lady President and they loved it. They thought President Marie Arcola was a strong, tough character. We also liked Senator Ttrevor Thomas and the other characters. Someday this story might be true or a story like it. I will be going to college in two years and plan to go into education. I know for a fact there is politics in the field of education. I think this book educated a bunch of my friends and I about America with a woman president.

Summary: Very scary, very important, very excellent!
Review: Mix a wonderful set of deep characters like President Marie Arcola, Senator Trevor Thomas, Benny and Fred, into a non-stop plot with a believable incident at a bio-chemical factory in Iran, add a bunch of suicidal racists who think they can start a holy war and you may get close to what Lady President is all about. The action scenes with Rockys Vampyres and the taking of the factory was brilliant. I was in the Air Force and the dogfight scenario was outstanding. This author, Mr. Carbajal, is better than most authors of books out there. He writes with humor, depth and can even make a grown man cry. My wife put the book down after the funeral scene and it took her a week to have the courage to pick this book up again to see how the story ended. She was impressed and I was impressed. This author has what it takes and is going places.

Summary: Wow! Lady President was a great story!
Review: My daughter had to do a school paper about the upcoming Presidential Election and she brought home a copy of Lady President. I became curious and started reading the book. This is a really clever story. The idea of a woman president like President Marie Arcola and an accident in Iran was believable and the plot and subplots were energized. I read alot of Tom Clancy, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, and all the big New York Times Best Sellers. I have to admit, Lady President is up there with the best. My wife saw the author on a talk show interview on Channel 12 News when he was in New York. She was impressed with his ideas about Elizbeth Dole and the possibility of her becoming president or vice president, but she didn't get the book. Now her whole book club wants Lady president.

Summary: Fast, exciting and terrific!
Review: My daughter was reading this book for her government class and I started reading this. I could not put this book down. Even my husband started reading Lady President. This unique tale of international intrigue and political double-dealing is almost right out of todays headlines. President Marie Arcola is a tough, well created character and a role model for the women in our nation. I am going to bring this one to my bookclub and I hope to see a sequel soon.

Summary: A tale of tough, true love for freedom, promise and America
Review: My wife and I will be retiring soon and we love to travel. Our children live and work in New York City and Washington, D.C.. They have been passing around this marvelous book called Lady President. My wife finished reading it two weeks ago and I just finished reading it. It has already been one year with President Bush and we are seeing how dramatically the world is changing. In Lady President, there is mention of the struggling women in far away countries like Iran and Afghanistan; the ones we need to support to rebuild that part of the world. Someday we will have a Lady President like President Marie Arcola. This author gives us a frightening and exciting look into the future.

Summary: Do not take this book lightly!
Review: Prepare yourself, if you are about to read Lady President. The Author, Xavier Joseph Carbajal, has given us a ghastly testament of the future of Amrica, once we have a woman president. The stereotypes, prejudice and disgrace by male politicians toward President Marie Arcola, was presented several times throughout this story in an entertaining and powerful manner. The squabbling soap opera characters played off of each other like Othello and Hamlet, showing how the back room decision making by politcians has the world walking the tightrope of extinction. The paranoia, fear and anger played out by Sneator Trevor Thomas, Agent Naughton, the Chiefs of Staff and several other players in Lady President, added heart pounding subplots and scenarios. A friend of mine, who is a professor at Harvard, told me to read Lady President, and I am glad I took his advice. The theories of the Chinses and Iranian government added a stark reality to this story, as did the ghastly consequences of a possible biological and chemical weapons disaster, like the incident at the factory in Iran. The concern in America with gun control, abortion laws and future riots is a daring look at the reality of our country. Now, in the news, Elizabeth Dole is running for president. How will other countries treat her or other American women presidents? READ THIS BOOK!!! It looks like the author has set us up for a sequel. Kate.
