Rating: Summary: Medicine and Murder can mix! Review: Janet McGriffin's "Elective Murder" combines emergency room medicine with Wisconsin state politics in a carefully crafted, suspense filled novel. Dr. Maxene St. Clair and her Detective friend Joseph Grabowski travel between Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin searching for the poisoner of female state Senators. The drama begins with the mysterious death of Seneator Irene Wisnewski in the Senate hearing chambers. It travels throughout the halls of the state capital following the convoluted paths of the power politics surounding a health care bill. Rumors abound, and the murderer seeks other victims. I found the novel carefully crafted with excellent details. Having lived in Madison and vistied Milwaukee the location information made me feel at home. However, the intrigue could be found in any state capital. The erie silence of falling snow only added to the tale. Having read my share of mysteries, I was impressed with the strength of the characters and the plot lines. The novel kept me in suspense until the very end. I did not know until the final pages who the killer was, and yet I was not surprised. The story held together. All the pieces fit! All in all, this was a very fun read.
