Summary: Novel of multiple dimensions
Review: City of Bones, River of Blood, a novel of multiple dimensions, follows the existence and evolution of a female, resembling a "Bildungs Roman" style, but in a very unique approach, namely through the filter of memory which gives the novel it's very interesting (almost in a scientific way) structure: multileveled segments.
The evolution of the character is seen from the inside, the story being built from pieces of memory and snapshoots.
The FORCE of the novel lies in the natural combinning of contraries: painfully true facts of life floating in a transcedental fluid: the beautiful essence of the narrator, whose roots grow from deep dimensions...the substance of humanity..
The detailed observation, or very clear recalling, of the child psychology restored in a sensitive and sometimes humorous way, adds another strong characteristic to this novel.
We assist to an osmosis of a variety of subtle dimesions..including the feverish, febril reality which paradoxically leads to a surrealist dominant, prevalent feature.
