Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A rich regional mystery
Review: Prich Hale is the son in the prestigious Bethesda law firm of Hale and Son. His dad thinks so highly of Prich's legal genius he has the son head up the Investigations Division, a company entity consisting of one person. Prich is responsible for any private sleuthing required by his father or a client, but must obtain the information in a way that no public relations damage occur to their clients, the rich and famous of the DC area.

Prich looks forward to a weekend away with his currently on again girl friend. However, Stu Ames of Bio-Studies Company, a client of the firm, needs some personal help. He is worried about the radical change in behavior of his fifteen years old niece Cindy, who is soon missing. Prich begins to make discreet inquiries because he must find the girl, learn whether the change in behavior is typical teen behavior or something worse. Yet Prich knows he must accomplish his mission without a whisper of scandal amidst the country club set he services or police involvement. Soon he has other kids to find related to people working at Bio-studies.

FATAL GENES, the sequel to the entertaining FATAL GAMES, stars a unique interesting sleuth in Prich Hale, who retains his freshness from the first novel in this book. The story line is relatively (pun intended) simple, but fun as Prich deals with his younger sister, a relatively new lawyer and his case, both requiring special handling as only he can do. Robert C. Nienkemper has written another regional cozy centering on the unique talents of its star character.
