Summary: JANE WOAH!!
Review: ...I only gave this one star because you cant go any lower. Come on ...While interested in the first few pages I soon became aware that this was not a book for me. Are we really supposed to believe that this girl falls in love with a man that has been sleeping with her mother for years?...GROSS. Other issues in the book make me think it is seriously lacking in the Values Department... Not worth the time in my opinion. Try Tami Hoag - Ashes to Ashes... Or Michael Prescott.

Summary: A great romantoc police procedural
Review:

The morning after, former Stockton police detective Frank Keegan suffers from a horrendous hangover, a nasty cut on his face, and no idea what he did the previous evening. His woes just begin when two fishermen discover the corpse of a naked teenager lying by the dock outside Frank's home.

The Riverton police force has little experience with homicides as the last murder occurred eighteen years ago. Abby Hooper, police chief for only a month, has one major suspect Frank, swears he has an alibi, who is none other than her estranged mother ,who he had sex with on that fatal night. Because of his growing attraction to Abby and his deep respect for her mother, Frank insists his proof remain anonymous. Abby continues to investigate the man she loves, praying that he did not commit the crime.

JANE DOE is an entertaining romantic police procedural that will receive much reader acclaim. The story line is crisp and filled with action, tension, and suspicion. Abby is a wonderful heroine, whose actions befit her job similar to that of the chief in "Fargo. Frank,s outlook on a pending murder charge seems off kilter, but overall the audience will relish his demeanor and philosophy. R.J. Kaiser successfully brings romance into the police procedural sub-genre so those fans of the latter will recognize the author,s name.

Summary: Good police procedural
Review: After a night of wallowing in his sorrows for not having someone to spend Valentines Day with, Frank Keegan wakes to find himself in his bed, with no pants on and blood all over himself. He doesn't remember how he got there or what happened. Brushing it off, Frank begins his day.

New Chief of Police Abby Hooper is just learning the ropes of her new job when a murder scene is found. A young girl, who appears to be a child prostitute, is found dead right outside Frank Keegan's house. Although the two of them had ran against eachother for the job as Chief of Police, Abby and Frank hold no bad feelings toward eachother. The only problem is that Frank is now Abby's number one suspect. Since Frank cannot remember what had happened the night before, and he knows he could never hurt a child, he is confident of his innocence.

When the former Chief of Police is found after he committed suicide and a tape in the VCR showing him in a compromising position, the case becomes even trickier. Who is their Jane Doe? Is Frank innocent of murder, or he is cold blooded killer of a little girl?

Frank and Abby are unable to deny their attraction to eachother, but the one problem is Frank's alibi for the night of the murder. It was Abby's own estranged mother.

Once again R.J. Kaiser has written a great police procedural. While not a fast paced as Payback, Jane Doe hold it's own and keeps the reader rivited and wanting more. I highly recommend this great police procedural

Summary: I Really Enjoyed!!
Review: I love a good police procedural, and this one is tops. It kept me guessing and at the same time being a little predictable. This author has become one of my favorite. I recommend all his novels.

Summary: STRONG STORY AND CHARACTERS
Review: My second book by R.J. Kaiser (the first being "Payback") and I continue to be impressed by this guy's writing. He not only gets into the minds of the male characters but has a good understanding of his female characters. This is totally different from "Payback" which I greatly appreciate. No cookie cutter characters - male or female. Good detective/mystery and a good friendship/love story. I will definitely buy more of his books. A keeper just like "Payback".

Summary: JANE DOE IS WORTH READING!
Review: This was my first R.J. Kaiser novel that I read and I enjoyed it greatly. I discovered Mr. Kaiser in a local bookstore and thought his novels looked interesting and bought all three of his novels. "JANE DOE" is about a police chief, Frank, who wakes up and finds a dead prostitute at his home. Abby Hooper, a friend of Frank's, who also is in law enforcement, can't believe that Frank would do anything like that. Abby and Frank must discover who the real killer is before Frank is convicted. This book takes you into the lives of drug dealers, pimps, and prostitues. Jane Doe also takes you on a trip from Sacramento to San Francisco. R.J. Kaiser is a fresh new voice in fiction!

Summary: Cliff hanger with twists
Review: When Frank Keegan wakes the day after Valentine's Day with a massive hangover and bloody scratches on his face, he's at a loss as to how they got there and what he did the night before. No amount of effort brings any sense of memory, so he has no choice but to struggle on about his business, which includes a game of bowling opposite the police chief and her team.

Abby Hooper is the controversial new police chief who has just beaten Keegan out of the job. She's young, qualified and enthusiastic and facing sexist opposition from at least half the town. That half doesn't include Keegan who, in spite of the fact that he has just broken up with her mother, likes Abby very much.

When fishermen find the nude body of a teenage girl at water's edge by Keegan's dock, all signs point to Keegan as her murderer. As the story progresses, Frank learns facts he doesn't want Abby to know and Abby becomes more suspicious of Frank.

Here's a cliff-hanger story that is full of surprises and should keep you glued to the tape deck until you find out just what did happen. Characters are deftly drawn . One of the problems with tapes is that men must read women's voices credibly (and vice versa). Richard Rohan handles that problem nicely.

Summary: Quite good.
Review: While not as exciting as his first book Payback, Mr. Kaiser again manages a fast paced murder mystery combined with an interesting and unlikely romance. When the body of a 13 year old 'Jane Doe' is found, it is quickly determined to be murder however motive and murderer are yet to be discovered. Enter Frank, an ex-cop and Abby, current chief of police. Mr. Kaiser introduces Frank and Abby knowing just how much the reader needs to get a feel for the characters without overloading on extraneous detail. Because the writing is quick and to the point, by the middle of the book the characters are familiar and intense and the reader has already learned and dealt with the past and present torments of each character both professionally and personally. I found myself more entertained by the relationship between Frank and Abby than the actual murder plot intself which tended to lead to characters of little interest. Fortunately there is a nice balance of mystery and romance throughout the story. While the ending was a bit disappointing and anticlimactic, I wouldn't let it discourage me from reccomending this book as well as Payback.
