Rating: Summary: This one is a page-turning, spine-tingling mystery . Review: The Secret Adversary was one of the most engaging books I have ever read. Set in post World War I England, two down-on-their-luck friends (Prudence Cowley and Tommy Beresford) form a pact to create Young Adventurers, Ltd., a company billing itself as willing to perform any task-- provided the pay was good enough. Yet before they place their advertisement, Prudence is approached by an unusual man who has overheard their conversation and wants to meet her-- alone-- the next morning. The story that follows stimulates the mind as well as appeasing those with a taste for action, without being graphic or offensive. Truly a good read.
