Rating: Summary: A small, quick, and suspenseful story Review: An author will use their imagination to come up with a storyline that will excite and entice the reader. Imagine you come up with a great fictional story, and then have to live the storyline. Mia Simone has this happen to her when a deranged stalker confuses fiction and reality. Then, you have a husband who is at wits end. He can't just sit around doing nothing, so he "helps" the police, and has to fight off the advances of another woman. In this very small and short novel, Ms Dennis has written a tale of suspense will have you sitting on the edge of your seat and you root for Mia to escape this nightmare and her husband to do the right thing.
Rating: Summary: Kept Me in Suspense Review: Mia and Edward Simone are happily married. Mia has managed to live out her dream of becoming a successful author and her book, A State of Mind, has catapulted her to the top of her game. She loves the attention given to her by fans and while a little bit concerned about the same man showing up at various booksignings throughout the country, she mentions it to her best friend in passing and then dismisses it. That is, until the unthinkable happens. Parker is an extremely sick man, having been abused as a child, diagnosed as mentally unstable, and prescribed medication to help him deal with his loose grip on reality. However, the medicine is not working and Parker decides to kidnap Mia, his favorite author, so that he can act out scenes from her book with her. After he abducts Mia, he calls her by the name of Val, the main character from her book, and tortures her with cigarettes whenever she disobeys him or speaks to him in a degrading fashion. While Mia is struggling to regain her freedom, Edward is being comforted by Lynda, Mia's best friend. After less than a week of disappearance, Edward practically succumbs to Lynda's seduction, which leads the reader to ponder the credibility of his love for his wife. Once Mia's ordeal ends in tragedy, she is reunited with her husband and things get back to normal. Anna Dennis has a wonderful writing style. I would have liked for the kidnapping sequence to last longer since I felt that was the main premise of the book. However, the steamy bedroom scenes and obvious gift for dialogue and storytelling make up for it. It is a quick read, 183 pages in mass market, and worth devoting a weekend afternoon flipping the pages. I give this book a 4 on the RAW Scale. Reviewed by Zane
Rating: Summary: Thrills and suspense Review: Mia Simone has written a best selling novel titled; A State of Mind. Unfortunately, an obsessed fan is about to make her life long dream of becoming a successful author a nightmare. No matter what state she has a book signing in there is a particular man who is always there. She casually mentions it to her best friend Lynda, and asks her not to tell her husband just yet. On her way home from a book signing she is kidnapped and Mia wonders who will hear her screams?. Edward Simone, Mia's loving husband is struggling with Mia's disappearance and protocol of the police department. After a little resistance from the boys in blue Edward decides to start his own investigation. With so much going on Edward finds himself in a uncompromising position with Mia's bestfriend Lynda. The author Anna Dennis, definitely gave these characters life, the deranged kidnapper you loved to understand, Lynda who you just wanted to pimp slap, Edward a man after my own heart, and of course sweet Mia. She had the strength of 20 woman. This book had me on the edge of my seat turning page after page intrigued to know what was going to happen next. Who will hear my screams is an excellent thriller, and I look forward to the authors next book. Missy APOOO Book club.
Rating: Summary: On the edge of my seat...for real! Review: Parker truly has issues. I was hooked on this crazy villain from the beginning. Every spare moment I had to read this book...I did! I managed to read it in 2-days. I like the way Ms. Dennis draws you into every scene. For a moment I felt like I was the one being tortured by Parker. And of course, Edward, Mia's husband is a delicious fantasy! I hope there's a sequel or at least another book with Edward in it! In the meantime, perhaps I can read it again...

Rating: Summary: A great little thriller Review: The title through me off for a minute but Ms. Dennis writes a taut and suspenseful thriller. Early on you knew Mia thought she had a stalker but the kidnapping happened so fast. Good character explanations and development. Along with wondering when and how she would get away, the setting and the torture was torture. The reader felt like they were there in that.......... Wonderful thriller. I enjoyed it. It was a rollacoaster ride. I want all my sistahs in my bookclub, In the Company of My Sistahs to read the book.

Rating: Summary: Misery Lives! Review: This was a short thriller but it constantly kept reminding me of the book and successful movie, MISERY. The kidnap, the re-living of the story, the search---everything that MISERY had in its novel/movie. There is no originality. But I can say one thing about the author . . . she's a true Stephen King fan!
