Rating: Summary: Waste of time Review: I'm not going to waste a lot of my time writing a review of this book, but I do feel obligated to warn people that this book is a must-miss for any serious Sherlock Holmes fan. The biggest problems I found with this book are (1) the book does not have even one appearance of Watson, (2) the style of writing is vastly inferior to that of Doyle, and (3) worst of all, the plot is lame and focuses (as the title implies) more on Moriarty than Holmes, so there are hardly any familiar faces. Unfortunately, all the new characters that are introduced are really very flat and uninteresting, so there's nothing to hold the reader's interest. Basically this book is a clunker, even compared to other new, non-Doyle stories. I recommend giving up on post-Doyle stories and investing in the Annotated Sherlock Holmes, an excellent and exhaustively researched compilation and annotation of the original stories. If you are really dying for new material, however, try Nicholas Meyer's Sherlock Holmes books. They are probably the best of a bad breed.
