Rating: Summary: VISIONS OF DOOM Review: Don Passman has written a book that is full of every imaginable cliche and stereotype ever embraced by thriller writers---and in doing so, he's done a great job with "The Visonary." Although the formula is so familiar (remember "Eyes of Laura Mars?"), Passman does manage to create a suspenseful foray into the mind of a very deranged serial killer. The characters of Michael Rennick, psychologist and assistant in setting up criminal profiles; Lisa Cleary, the somewhat erratic psychic; and Danny Talon, the frustrated cop with a past (what cop in these books doesn't) are all interesting and enjoyable to journey along with. Passman has a witty sense of humor and a good sense of mystery and impending doom. I do think, however, that an astute reader can pick out the identity of the serial killer early in the book, but even so, the climax maintains some punch anyway! "The Visionary" is a graphic novel, so be forewarned; however, if you like a good sit by the fire thriller and a few goosebumps, this one delivers.
Rating: Summary: fascinating! Review: Don Passman's "The Visionary" is a high suspense thriller somewhat similar to Thomas Harris' "The Silence of The Lambs" and "Hannibal." The story revolves around a psychiatrist/teacher, Dr. Michael Rennick, and his patient, Lisa Cleary. Rennick is assisting the LAPD in a serial killer investigation while helping Lisa deal with visions that he feels are related to these string of murders. Helping her figure out these visions, Rennick thinks, will help find the killer. "The Visonary" is fast. This pace kept me interested in a book that was often times very complex and intense. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next to the characters. After reading only a couple of chapters, you can clearly tell that Passman was very thorough in his research of psychology and serial killers. In addition to the accuracy in research, the characters are very easy to identify with and are very human, making the book that much more thrilling. All of these elements made this book a fascinating read. I can't wait for the next Passman book!
Rating: Summary: I read this based on having read "Mirage" - I wish I hadn't! Review: I didn't think "Mirage" was a great book but it was entertaining. Therefore, I decided to read "The Visionary". It turned out to be a bad decision. The identity of the culprit was obvious within the first few chapters. The ending was so stilted that it bordered on being just plain silly.
Rating: Summary: Must Read! Review: I don't give many books a 5 star rating, but this kept me reading from the very first page. I have high hopes that his other book is just as entertaining.

Rating: Summary: Not Good! Review: i don't know why sidney sheldon gave good credit to this book. maybe because his recent books are not good as well. the ending kept you hanging there. so what happened to lisa? the author left her there as if the crimes she made were really intentional. she had psychological problems and this was not stressed in the ending.
Rating: Summary: Unexpected twist Review: I really enjoyed this book and was not able to put it down. I thought that the characters were well developed and explained. I was totally surprised about the ending. It was GREAT!!!
Rating: Summary: a GREAT read!!! Review: I'm not one to read -- it takes me a while to get into a book -- but this book was the exception. From (literally) the first page, I was hooked, and it took only a few hours to get through this page-turner. Very suspenseful, from page to page, and I couldn't put it down. If you need a great beach read, try this book!
Rating: Summary: A somewhat lackluster psychic thriller... Review: The first half of this book promises quite a bit. A serial killer with a strange unknown motive, a psychiatrist with a budding new relationship, a detective on his last chance, and a young businesswoman with a psychic ability that laid dormant for years - and has come back. Alas, half way through the book, it was easy to figure out who the villain was. Throughout the book, Passman gives glimpses into the psyche of the villain by showing you pages from the serial killer's diary. I noticed something glaringly obvious, and it gave away the plot. The last half of the book turned into a frustrating waiting game for me: waiting for the good guys to figure out what was going on, as the clues became more and more obvious. The first half of the book was indeed quite good, it's just that the author played too many cards and gave away his hand. The characterizations are decent enough, but once you know what's going on, the book loses its shine. If Passman has another book out there, and I see it in a used bookstore or the like, I'll give it a shot, but I'm not much inspired to find more of his works. For those of you looking for good psychic thriller fiction, I'd suggest Martha C. Lawrence, Kay Hooper, or Joseph Glass. 'Nathan
Rating: Summary: CREEPY! Review: This is a wonderful psychological thriller with plenty enough twists and turns to keep you guessing until the very end. Lisa Cleary is a beautiful accountant with a problem, she keeps seeing visions of horses and dead women. She had thought that her visions were over for ever. She calls up Dr. Michael Rennick, a lawyer/psychiatrist for help with her problems. Dr. Rennick agrees to see Lisa about her visions as he is intrigued about her possible psychic abilities. Dr. Rennick soon discovers that Lisa's visions have something to do with the serial murders that his friend LAPD Detective Danny Talon is working on. Soon, Talon, Rennick and Lisa are working together to find the killer. The killer is meticulous, clean and very violent. Will they be able to find and stop the killer? You will be surprised and pleased with the results.
