Rating: 5 stars
Summary: New Age Thriller
Review: The Mind Travelers is Gayton's second effort after the his non fiction book The Forgiving Place-seen on Oprah. Its a psychological thriller with a bisexual psychologist Vietnam vet main character who learns from his eccentic father Obadiah to "mind travel"-- that is go deeply inside himself and heal his past guilt over the violence he was involved in Vietnam combat. Very vivid battle scenes (not for the sensitive) and gripping story about attempts this psychologist makes to save his teenage son who is a current victim of violence. The bisexual theme serves up another issue for healing. The ending is a heart pounder. I just kept getting pulled in further and further until I couldn't put it down. Oprah would like this one, too!
