Summary: A Real Page-turner!!
Review: A Haunting Melody is simply one of the best novels I have read in quite some time. The story appeals on so many levels that I can't imagine anyone not being drawn in by it. It is a story of mystery, good and evil, human love and supernatural redemption. The setting begins in Civil War era New Orleans, with a young man going on his first riverboat voyage with his grandfather. The setting is brought to life with words. The authors knowledge of both history and nautical terminology provide authenticity. The characters are so well-developed that you almost feel that you know them. The story is told through the use of many characters, with plots and sub-plots intertwined with a love story. All ends mysteriously at the bottom of the Missippi River. The story nevers slows down or halts. Every chapter adds interest and intrigue.

The story picks up again in today's time, with the salvaged riverboat being found and restored to life by a young disabled woman with a dream. I don't want to divulge too much of the story in fear of spoiling the mystery for the reader. Suffice it to say that once you begin this book, you will not want to put it down!!

Summary: A Haunting Melody
Review: I loved this book! It was one of those kind that you don't want to put down. I passed the book on to my daughter to read....and she felt the same way. We were in the car, her in the front seat, me in the back...she turned and looked at me and said..."mom...that book...oh my God!" and i replied.."yeah, I know...it was aweome wasn't it?". She stayed up until 5am the previous night reading the book and said she went through so many emotions, including crying over the characters. She asked me when is part 2 coming out, or the movie. I would like to know myself. Read this book...you will be glad you did.

Summary: Haunting Melody entertains
Review: If you liked the movie "Ghost" you will love this one. The story is in two parts, the first centered around the often chaotic life of Daniel and his life as a riverboat pilot, finally ending as the Captain of the entertainment river boat "Melody". On its maiden voyage the Melody sinks and Daniel is blamed for the demise of the Melody and virtually all on board. The second half of the story is set in modern times and centers around a young women named Val. Through a turn of events Val ends up restoring the Melody and in so doing encounters the ghost of Daniel who wants to set his life history straight. Through some old fashion detective work, and many laughs, the besmirched biography of Daniel is righted, releasing Daniel to seek other haunts and loves. Ultimately all ends happily and the story ends on a feel good note.

The book is a page turner and kept me entertained throughout. The characters are well developed. The books offers mystery, romance, intrigue, comedy, tragedy, and adventure, not to mention learning a lot about what it was like to be a river boat pilot in the late 1800s. Even as a work of fiction I never knew the life/afterlife of a riverboat pilot/captain could be so entertaining.
