Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A tidy and clever legal thriller. Review: "False Witness" is an involving legal thriller about Laura Chastain, an assistant district attorney in Atlanta. She is helping to prosecute James Stanley for the murder of his wealthy wife, Christie. James has a high-powered lawyer who throws a monkey wrench into the D. A.'s case time and time again. The author, Leila Kelly, describes the unfolding murder investigation in fascinating detail and her courtroom scenes are excellent. The case turns out to have a number of twists and turns, and I had no idea how it would end. The books has a satisfying resolution that is clever and devoid of the cheap pyrotechnics and violence so popular these days. Kelly has a good ear for dialogue and "False Witness" is fast-paced. I recommend this book for fans of legal suspense.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: False Witness Review: Having enjoyed Presumption of Guilt I could not wait to read Kelly's next book. I was totally enthralled with it from the minute I picked it up. Although it picked up where Presumption of Guilt left off it is not necessary to have read her first book before reading this one. Leila Kelly has created a wonderful character in Chastain, one who is human and every reader can relate to. This book is well written and I often forgot that it was fiction...Also, I did not figure out who did it and how halfway through the book. I can't wait to read Kelly's next book.....
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Another Smart Legal Thriller Review: I feel that Lelia Kelly has really outdone herself with False Witness. The suspense was riveting. Laura Chastain is a character which one can readily embrace. She is caring and compassionate yet she is nobody's fool. I strongly suggest that readers invest in this amazing thriller. I couldn't put it down!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Strong start - weak finish Review: I was very excited when I began reading Kelly's False Witness, but as my interest waned toward the end of the novel, it seems that Kelly's did as well. What started out with believable characters and plot lines, soon turned into something entirely different. Toward the end of her novel, Kelly just wanted to wrap it up for the publishers. What should (and could) have been a solid novel, was ruined with hasty and convenient plot lines, unconvincing moves by the characters, and just plain bad writing by Kelly - not to mention incredibly corny in parts. I do think Kelly is a solid writer, and I am extremely impressed by her knowledge of legal proceedings and loop holes, but I think this novel shows what can happen to a story line when the writer is in a hurry.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Another Excellent Work from Lelia Kelly Review: I've been a fan ever since Presumption of Guilt hit the bookshelves, but this thriller intrigued me even more than the first one. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop (even though we had company visiting). Don't start the book unless you have some time to spare, because it is hard to put down! I am anxiously awaiting her next masterpiece!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Kelly Scores Again with False Witness Review: Kelly fans snared by Presumption of Guilt will once again put lives on hold while turning the pages of False Witness. Kelly spins a complex, suspenseful and wholly believable tale, while deepening her characters and our affection for them. If you liked Laura Chastain in Presumption of Guilt, you'll love her in False Witness. Kelly's plot twists are imaginative and mind-bending, and the flavor of Atlanta rings true. Buy this book! It's a great read, and hopefully just the second of many.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Lelia Kelly is a new talent Review: Since reading her first book, I have been waiting for another. False Witness is well-written, with a very human protagonist. Laura Chastain is intelligent and yet makes questionable decisions. She has a sharp legal mind and yet lets her emotions creep in. Kelly tells enough about her life outside her work to make her real; I look forward to getting to know her better in future books.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: The "True" Testimony Review: This highly regarded suspense novel has been scoring a lot of "5"s by Amazon reviewers. I thought it was very good but not the "perfect 10" material that makes you take a deep, relaxing breath when you've finished, fully satisfied as you thumb through the pages recalling pleasant memories of your reading experience. This story of Laura Chastain, assistant D.A., starts slowly but steadily picks up speed until the climactic ending when the false witness... sorry, you get to read it yourself and be thrilled like the rest of us. The man of the title is Jim Stanley, the slick slimeball of the same name as the man charged with the murder of his wife. It seems that Laura, who makes reference to her previous case, in "Presumption of Guilt" is struggling to recover from the death of her mentor and settle in Atlanta. It may be worth it to read "Presumption of Guilt" and to be on the lookout for future novels by Kelly. This was fairly fast and entertaining and not too easy to figure out who committed the crime.
