Summary: A hard-hitting PI story from a real life PI.
Review: Attention!! Readers enamored by hard-hitting private detective novels, Blood Shot Eyes, by Patrick Picciarelli, a retired NY City police lieutenant cut from the same cloth as William J. Caunitz, is a must read book. PicciarelliÕs PI Ray Yale is intent on solving a nine-year old murder, whose trail is colder than the killerÕs heart. The city of New York is a main character itself and Picciarelli writes with an authenticity in texture and tone not many can match. Being a NY City native now living in Florida, Picciarelli brought me back to the city of my youth. A city so vibrant, yet a city so cruel innocent people sometimes die in the blink of an eye. In Blood Shot Eyes, the good guys win and the bad guys loose, but not before Picciarelli weaves you through the seamy side of New York City, a side normal citizens never see, except though the eyes of writers like Picciarelli, a dying breed for sure...

Summary: Finally, A Mystery Book That Won't Let You Down!
Review: Blood Shot Eyes by private investigator and former NYPD detective, Patrick W. Picciarelli, is a fast-moving P.I. story set in New York City. Picciarelli blends his talent as a writer with his knowledge of the NY crime scene to produce a jaw-dropping, heart-stopping, page-turner of a story. Enter Ray Yale, a former NYPD detective turned P.I. (hmmm, sound like anyone we know?), who investigates a decade-old double homicide. The story moves at a steady clip, the dialogue is realistic, the cop stuff authentic, the characters real, the murders horrible and the killer crazy. The story behind the story is the journey Yale is making to put his life back together after the death of his wife. Get to know Yale and come to really care about him. He's a P.I. with ethics and a good heart. A good, fast read. Try it - you'll like it.

Summary: Superb hard-edged detective story!
Review: BLOOD SHOT EYES is a fascinating hard-edged detective story. Read the first three chapters and you will be hooked! Great characterizations, clever dialogue and the story is filled wih interesting details that only a real-life PI like Pat Piccarelli would know, and render so interesting. The New York City setting is very well described so you feel you are right there on the street with Tony Yale (the PI of the story!) There are also clever inside jokes, like when Yale uses the pseudonym "Eddie Norton" on the case. This one is a winner. Pick it up, but don't tune in any radio shock jocks when you read it. (When you become familiar with the plot, you will know why!) This looks like the beginnig of a great new detective series! Watch for more Tony Yale stories. Bravo!

Summary: Crazy Woman With A Gun.....Sexy Opening......Heart Racing...
Review: First of all, once you pick up this book, you are not going to be able to put it down. You will fall in love with Yale; his sensitivity, his passion, his lonliness will grab your heart. It is fast paced and I found myself trying to speed read it just to see what happens next. And the opening.....two women and a man in the back seat of a car.....you do the rest in your head! The author's knowledge of hand weapons is impressive. The images he paints with his words stay with you for a very long time. You will find your heart racing with the action and the way he manipulates the reader is like being face to face with an oncoming train. Patrick Picciarelli will be around for a long time and I, for one, am looking forward to his upcoming book,"White Out: My Story"

Summary: The title is a teaser...follow it to a mystery-thriller!
Review: It is a distinct pleasure to read a police procedural/private investigator novel by someone who knows the territory like the back of his hand. Patrick Picciarelli not only talks-the-talk, he also walks the walk with authority and supreme confidence. The narrative is glassy smooth, the characterizations dead-on, and the pacing NASCAR fast. The former detective lieutenant with the NYPD, and current top echelon private investigator, has written a superb thriller that will keep you up well into the night - it did me. I finished Blood Shot eyes at 3AM. Leaving me to consider Mr. Picciarelli both a blessing and a curse.

Summary: Action, authenticity, plot and unique memorable characters..
Review: This fast paced detective novel by Patrick W. Picciarelli has it all
-- action, authenticity, plot, and unique memorable characters. It's
also set in the New York City that I love, and the places are very
real to me.

The very first chapter sets the tone with a graphic and
brutal description of a double murder. And from that point on it's
hard to put the book down because there are constant surprises and
twists and turns of the plot. The cast of characters include a psycho
former policewoman, a radio talk show shock jock and an ailing retired
cop. And then there is Ray Yale, the private investigator who is
hired to solve the murder nine years after it has been committed.
He's strong and tough as well as sensitive. I loved him
immediately.

Mr. Picciarelli is a retired police lieutenant himself
and is now a private investigator with an excellent command of
language and knowledge of weapons. His use of police jargon adds
realism to the story and his descriptions of even the most minor
characters made them jump right off the page.

I usually fall asleep
while reading but this book kept me wide awake way into the wee hours
because I just had to find out what would happen next. I look forward
to future books by this author.

Recommended.
