Rating: Summary: Better Than Clancy Review: As a millennium afficionado, I have read virtually every millennium novel under the sun. This isn't near the top of my list. I expected high tension and excitement, which PROJECT never really delivers. Of all the millennium suspense thrillers, only one captures the madness and nerve-wracking chills the subject demands, and that is Glen Kleier's THE LAST DAY. Simply a brilliant, thought provoking read that kept me up to the wee hours on the edge of my chair. I will read it again and recommend it to anyone who wants a spectacular wayto commemorate the passage of the millennium.
Rating: Summary: A Lot of Fun Review: Everyone who invests in Y2K stocks should read "The Millennium Project" by Joe Massucci. A great book with a twist on the Y2K problem. Great plot, great characters, plenty of violence and occasional sex. Once you start reading the prologue, you'll be hooked.
Rating: Summary: Great Plot Review: I couldn't put it down. Interesting characters, a great plot with a number of twists, and plenty of sex and gratuitious violence. It's about 350 pages, but is a quick read. The basic plot of the book is that a group of terrorists uses the Y2K panic as a cover for an attempt to destroy the world's financial markets. But there's a lot more to this basic plot than that. Read it. Great fun.
Rating: Summary: Not Really About Y2K Review: I found this fast-paced thriller very engaging. But not because of Y2K. In fact, rather than boring me with computer bugs, the story is a fascinating (albeit violent) look at industrial and financial terrorism, a diversion I found refreshing, not to mention thrilling. I don't believe the world is about to come to an end from this computer glitch or even the second coming, but obviously some people do. And this book takes a breathtaking look at what might happen if some of those crazies exploit our vulnerabilities to gain real power. Apocalyptic headlines aside, I enjoyed this book for its likeable characters, fast story and loads of suspense. Just when I thought it was safe to get on an airplane at the stroke of midnight, the book's master terrorist starts pulling them from the sky like toys. And there's even a good piece of common sense in the book: when our terrorist uses computers to play havoc with aircraft, an old helicopter is put back into service in order to avoid disasters. I must also mention our heroes' use of chemical and semi-biological computers with massively parallel capabilities -- this is absolutely awesome technology which, I understand, is considered to be strong possibilities for the future. And there's so much more here to enjoy. All-in-all, a great read!
Rating: Summary: Great Fun! Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this fast paced, educational and highly entertaining story. I took it on vacation with me and found that I was missing a lot of snorkeling while reading with enjoyment. It moves like lightening and strikes with intensity, blasting me with adventure everywhere it finds it -- on top of the Rocky Mountains, in NORADs impregnible bunker city, and even inside Chicago's hundred-year-old water tunnels beneath Lake Michigan. This book steps far apart from the run of the mill techno-thriller to a much higher level of fun and adventure all to itself. This is the second book I have read by Mr. Massucci ("CODE:ALPHA" was the first) and I look forward to the next adventure. Excellent, excellent entertainment!
Rating: Summary: A Masterpiece Review: Massucci has given us a fascinating look at the possible downfall of western civilization should an evil cybergenius get loose. In this many level story the, now happily past, Y2K issue is used as a mask for a much more insidious plan to gain boundless fortune and power. The main characters are that very evil genius, a 3 person highly trained and skillful special forces strike team, a number of top computer and biotech scientists, and Albert, the first functional biocomputer. In addition, there are a great number of tough and/or brilliant, good and/or evil players who are all blown away using various interesting and/or grotesque forms of military armament and/or civilian fatal devices. Despite some truly grotesque concepts that still haunt me, I must proclaim this a captivating adventure, beautifully wrought with real characters involved in a fascinating struggle to the death to save themselves, their friends and US. It's a fast and consuming read. Go for it!!!!
Rating: Summary: A Masterpiece Review: The Millenium Project is one of the best thrillers I have ever read. Fast paced, intelligent, edge of the seat stuff. I hope the author writes another one. I'm stuck reading Robert Ludlum books in anticipation of Massucci's next masterpiece.
