Rating: Summary: More than a good mystery Review: Africa is about the last place that comes to mind when I think of a mystery novel, which made this book all the more fresh and interesting. The cultural diversity of the characters and the wonderful integration of wildlife into the story were added bonuses. I will definitely read other books by Ms. McQuillan. Highly recommended.

Rating: Summary: My kind of adventure Review: After finishing Karin McQuillan's first two books, Deadly Safari and Elephant's Graveyard, I couldn't wait to pick up Cheetah Chase. I was not disappointed by this third Jazz Jasper novel at all. It continued to develop the heroine's character, her relationships and her adventures in the African Jungle. McQuillan has a way of weaving her plots through a story that teaches as well as excites. I eagerly await more from her.

Rating: Summary: Author Quits Just As She's Learning to Write? Review: I recently reread the 3 mysteries featuring Jazz Jasper. (Why reread mysteries? Cuz I don't have any new ones and I want to clean out some bookshelf space; now I can donate them to my local library.) My reaction was the same as when I first read this series a decade ago -- admiration for her portrayal of Kenya (not just the wilderness & the animals but also the cities & the Kenyan people) but frustration at McQuillan's poor fiction-writing skills. (And irritation with her editor: Why hadn't McQuillan been referred to a good writing program, where she could learn how to develop characters or plot a mystery?) Rereading the 3rd book (Cheetah Chase), however, I detected some signs of improvement. The central character, Jazz Jasper, no longer acts as though she's 14; her detection activities actually make some sense; and above all, her actions flow more logically from her character than in the first 2 books. So I went online to purchase a copy of the 4th book in the series -- only to find that McQuillan has stopped publishing! (Which might have made sense after book #1, but why now, when she's finally improving...?)
Rating: Summary: an exciting, amazing, mysterious, thrilling adventure. Review: This is a thrilling adventure that will take you all the way to africa, where you will experience fear, mystery, and even romance. It will stick you to your seat, you won't be able to put it down
