Rating: Summary: A great book and a nice change of pace Review: Don't have a clue what the reviewer (see below) is thinking. She/he best go back to watching their soap operas and reading romance novels, and possible catching up on Mr. Ed reruns. Deadly Perversions is a great book because the author doesn't take things too seriously. That's the point. That's the beauty and pleasure in reading Arquette's novel. Obviously, some people missed this creative slant entirely. It's a fast read, because it's so entertaining it's hard to put down.
Rating: Summary: Most Entertaining Book I've Read in Years! Review: Don't let the title or the cover fool you. Deadly Perversions is not a horror book, but a sinfully fun ditty that moves at the speed of light; quick smart chapters, written in a what-you-see-is-what-you-get attitude that is uniquely refreshing. Unlike the standard thriller novelist, the author (Arquette) has a playfulness that drives a well thought out plot, eliminating slow chapters with mirth, cranking you up with fast chapters, never really leaving you a time to breath or leave. The book literally sweeps you away. I read twenty or so chapters in one sitting, never really wanting to put it down. The world of the thriller as we've know it has changed. Brett Arquette has entered the scene with his debut novel Deadly Perversions and between you and me; I can't wait to see what he writes next.
Rating: Summary: Appallingly Bad Review: I can't believe this even made it into print. The Big Surprising Plot Twist is telegraphed on page twelve, the book is riddled with typos (he misspells his own characters' names, for goodness sake!), the characters are so shallow I didn't really care whether they died, and the only good idea in here is ripped off from Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash. And what's the deal with loudly proclaiming that Lois Duncan edited it? She certainly didn't do a very good job. Arquette should probably stick to writing poorly-worded letters to Penthouse; that's basically what this reads like. Except that even the sex isn't any good.
Rating: Summary: Wish I could give it 6 stars! Outstanding! Review: I reviewed this book for Gotta Write Network and was so impressed with it that I nominated it for their Marley Award in the mystery category. The author hooked me with the first couple of pages and I could not put the book down. It is a massive book; yet, I read it completely in one sitting. I just had to know how it ended. Arquette interweaves several subplots to give you multiple mini-stories within the one major story. He keeps you either laughing yourself silly or biting your nails. This is writing to the extremes and a treasure of entertainment! Get it today. His next book, "Seeing Red," will be released soon. Watch for it.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED IT! Review: LOVE IT! One thing is for sure ... either you love Arquette's writing or you hate it, as you can see by the drastically mixed reviews below. There is really no between the lines about it. I happen to LOVE IT! Very inventive. I can see how older fudy-dudy readers that are into books like Stephen King's (wake me when it's over) Dream Catcher diatribes won't like his fast paced, sometimes vulgar style (see the fudy-dudy reviews below), but to me it was like reading a new kind of book for a new generation of readers. I can't wait to read his next one! If you're into big-time published, totally commercial, pre-packaged, overly promoted books that are fed to you by the book press, then stick to your twentieth John Grisham novel. Else read the out-on-limb, rocker, Deadly Perversions. Heah, you only live once.

Rating: Summary: Humor, Suspense & Sex Review: One word....Awesome! Maybe it's my own "perversions" speaking but this book was great! What a wonderful combination of humor, sex and suspense all rolled into one. I was hooked by page 2 and found it hard to put down. Short chapters make this an easy read. Arquettes imagination and humor take the cake. Can't wait for more from this guy!

Rating: Summary: Completely Different, Fun Read Review: This is a book that you can easily read cover to cover but, you can also read a chapter at a time without losing touch. Each chapter is like a mini story that entertains you with either drama or humor or action. All of the characters and events are brought together to create an ending that is, like the rest of the book, filled with drama, excitement, and humor. I have passed my copy on to five friends. Every one of them has busted out laughing within the first few chapters and have been completely drawn into reading the rest of the book. Totally different, totally entertaining.
Rating: Summary: Lousy editing ruins a good story Review: This is an interesting story along the lines of "The Andromeda Strain" with elements of "The Hot Zone" and some cyberpunk influence. The story pulses with raw energy and shows that the author has real promise for future success. However, this book is hobbled by a serious flaw. The publisher should be ashamed of the editing and proofing in this book. There are dozens of blatant "spell-o's" in the book - cases where a spelling checker has substituted the wrong word. For example, the word "energy" might be substituted where "emerge" is the right word to fit the sentence. There is an average of one of these things every TWO PAGES or so and it makes it really difficult to read the book... kind of like hitting potholes while driving. This barrage of errors disrupts the flow of the story and makes the whole thing read like a first draft and not a published novel. Just because something passes through a spelling checker without complaint doesn't mean that it's OK! Two stars for the good story that's hiding among the potholes.
