Summary: An exciting new character and setting
Review: A great read. The atmosphere is so real: the north Florida swamps, the heat, the critters (four-legged, two-legged, and winged), and the food. I knew that I wasn't in Ohio anymore as I was swept into the story, and was holding my breath during the cave dives. Luanne is a feisty, independent woman, trying to re-direct her life and is drawn into quite an adventure. I am looking forward to reading much more about her.

Summary: Like I had been there
Review: Although I had been to this part of Florida, it had been awhile, and with Glynn's attention to detail, I could easily visualize myself there with the heat, humidity, the environment and most of all the gators! Being a hopeless romantic myself, I loved the romance angle but wished there had been more revenge with the ex! I can't wait until her next book to see how this love triangle plays out. The mystery aspect had me turning the pages dying to find out "whodunnit." Glynn is good with red herrings and false leads which kept me on my toes until the bitter end. I can't wait for the sequel, which I hope will be soon!

Summary: Award-Deserving Debut
Review: As a mystery writer with my first novel in its initial release, I am quite impressed by Glynn Marsh Alam's DIVE DEEP AND DEADLY. Set primarily in a Florida swamp, this debut mystery features some of the finest first-book writing that I have read in years. As Luanne Fogarty attempts to rebuild the family home, the vivid descriptions allow the reader to literally feel the swamp. As Luanne's project continues, complications arise. The plot twists and turns. The characters are well-drawn. DIVE DEEP AND DEADLY has recently been nominated for a Barry Award. It is most deserving of this award.

Summary: GREAT BOOK!!!!
Review: Glynn Alam takes the reader down into the mysterious world of the cave diver, a world where death is as common as the black and cold waters these caves hold. Although we are told this is a work of fiction the people, the swamps, the caves, the bugs, and the story are all as real as you can get. This book will transport you to another time and place and keep you there until the last page. We can only hope this is the first of many more books to come from Glynn. Glynn if you're out there . . . we want another!

Summary: MORE PLEASE!
Review: Glynn Marsh Alam has given us a new heroine in a fascinating setting. I loved learning about the swamps and diving, and her beautiful description of both puts the reader smack in the middle. Everytime I leave my urban townhouse, I find myself checking for snakes and gators! Keep up the good work Glynn!

Summary: Rich, evocative writing that takes you right to the swamp
Review: Late at night, when the crickets suddenly stop chirping, your skin crawls and your scalp and neck tingle as you feel the silent terror of an unknown interloper intruding into the secluded, telephone-free ancestral home. Will the crickets start their chorus again?

Glynn Alam's writing is so rich and evocative that from page one, you are deep in the Florida swamp, sweating in the humidity, listening to crickets, driving down rutted roads, partaking of sumptuous southern feasts, dodging snakes of both the slithering and two-legged kind, warily avoiding gators of both the four- and two-legged kind, scuba diving in frosty cold spring water and stumbling upon dead bodies in the limestone caves of the cold swamp springs of the Florida Panhandle.

Alam has crafted lots of plot twists and surprise turns that keep you moving through the swamp-fest as elderly Cajun swamp neighbor Pasquin helps Luanne Fogarty use her intellect, diving skill and Mother Wit to help otherwise pedestrian, balky Joe Friday-style cops solve a set of mysterious and bewildering murders, robberies and some nautical weirdness on the Gulf.

Get the book, enjoy it, and hope that Alam hurries up with the sequel.

Summary: Dive Deep and Deadly
Review: Like any mystery worth its salt, I couldn't put this book down. The thought of diving into caves is excitng enough by itself, but add to that the discovery of dead bodies and you have my full attention! I feel like I've been there with LuAnn. Been not only in the caves, but in the cabin in the swamp with all its freightening aspects. I think Luanne is just beginning to get her feet wet and I look forward to her next adventure in the swamps and caves. Can't wait!

Summary: Hold Your Breath
Review: Luanne Fogarty is enjoying her time off from teaching by rebuilding her family home deep in the swamps of Florida when her occasional job diving for the police gets her involved in a mystery. She finds a body tied to an underwater cave, but the next morning, it's gone. Exploring a second cave, she finds a second body. Is there a connection? And if so, what is it? And who is the unidentified first woman and where is her body?

This is a wonderful debut book. The plot develops nicely, and the characters are interesting as well. The real star here is the setting. Ms. Alam is able to bring the swamp to life using all five senses in a way that places you right there without overshadowing the characters or story. I was completely drawn into this world, enjoying every minute of it.

I highly recommend this entertaining mystery and am looking forward to the second book in this series.
