Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Review by Nancy Morris Review: Genre: Fiction
Set in an unnamed but familiar neighborhood of an equally familiar city, "Fragments" is a decidedly modern mystery novel about one man who is suspected of a murder he didn't commit, and a host of characters, one of whom is actually guilty of the crime himself. Told almost exclusively through the words of the characters, the story hinges on the allusiveness of the cast, and their often philosophically indirect discussions.
Reginald knows he must be careful with these two men, the artist and the priest, since they seem to be the only people left who can offer him any reassurance of his own existence. But their antagonizing reluctance to answer him plainly just increases his frustration and confusion. A confusion compounded by the mounting evidence that he is responsible for the suspicious disappearance of a woman he himself has been in search of for days.
This relatively small novel is a veritable feast for the lover of wordplay and literary humor, skillfully combined by Tom Sterling to carry out a confusing but amusing story. While it would be inaccurate to call this a light read, given the charmingly obtuse characters and the strangely intriguing plot, there is ample dialogue that allows for the simple pleasure that comes from reading well-chosen and well-written words. Reminiscent of the tennis-style banter of a Tom Stoppard play, the conversations between characters invite a second-read through, not just to confirm their relevance to the plot, but also to enjoy their full entertainment potential, separate from the story itself.
It is the dialogue and the characters that ultimately make this book well worth the few hours it takes to read. But the mysterious and somewhat ironic plot makes an excellent vehicle for author Tom Sterling to demonstrate his talent for finding the endless entertainment potential of the English language.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: BEST BOOK EVER Review: I HAVE READ MANY SIMILAR MYSTERIES BUT THIS IS TO DIE FOR! NOT FOR DOPES. YOU WILL NEVER REGRET THIS READ!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Philosphy and Humour make this book both complex and fun Review: Reminiscent of Camus or Ionesco, this is modern-day existentialism at its finest. Also very funny and entertaining with humorous plays on words and plot twists that will make you laugh out loud. Highly recommended.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Fascinating book Review: The book starts out grabbing your attention and it holds on tight. It's a mixture of mystery and comedy. There is a wonderful climax effect as the story develops from 'getting to know you' to 'Oh dear, what is happening?'
Fragments contains all the ingredients to make this a must read book.
