Rating: Summary: Fast-paced suspense -- thrilling! Review: A terrific book! Now I know what they mean by "page-turner". It hooked me on page one and I couldn't stop. From the corporate offices of an evil, greedy CEO to the steamy jungles of the Yucatan peninsula, this book had me all the way. It's like a whole new category of book -- a business thriller. The main characters, Luke and Jenna, are terrific people who get themselves into a lot of trouble. The CEO villain who put them there is even worse than my boss ... and some CEOs I've read about today. The ending took my breath away!
Rating: Summary: Fast Paced & Fun Review: He really gets it. This is a masterpiece that combines the reality of a rollercoster business with soaring emotions and nailbiting suspense. You don't just read it. You ride it.
Rating: Summary: A chilling thriller! Review: I met Mr. Brogan this afternoon... and spoke briefly with him. Based on our conversation I purchased Business to Kill. Started reading it while waiting in the check out line and well, it is now 6:30 P.M. and I am almost finished! What an exciting, page turning, thriller! You have to check out this book! You will not be disappointd! Can't wait for the next one!
Rating: Summary: Compelling and Entertaining Review: Kudos to Mike Brogan on a terrific first book. It was a great read. I am looking forward to your next effort. I highly recommed this book.
Rating: Summary: Underwhelming Review: Okay, I'll admit, I read the entire book in one sitting. But considering it's over 300 pages, that's not necessarily a good thing. The book was a fast read, because it simply wasn't that well-written. Brogan uses a lot of words and a lot of pages to say very little. The storyline was okay, but the narrative seemed sloppy, and the characters weren't well-drawn. We get way too much of the villains' backgrounds (did nobody in this book have decent parents?), as though that's pivotal to the story. The events unfold without any real urgency, even though the book's timeline is only four days. If I wasn't a Detroit native (which is why I was interested in the first place), I probably would have given up on this book pretty quickly.Brogan's publisher should be embarassed that they allowed this book to be printed -- not because of the story itself, but because of the *extremely* poor editing. I have never seen such random punctuation in my life! Please, learn how to use commas! Typos, wrong word choices, and fundamental errors abound (it's Ricky, not Rickie, Martin; Desenex, not Desinex - which probably should have been Desitin anyway; Rolodex, not Roll-A-Dex; and any Detroiter knows it's DaimlerChrysler, not Chrysler-Daimler). And who wrote that awful book jacket summary? Detroit has produced some very fine mystery writers. Brogan has a long way to go before he joins that company.
Rating: Summary: A chilling thriller! Review: Wow -- Business To Kill For is a suspense thriller to kill for. I bought it last Satuday and just kept reading ... and reading ... before dinner-during dinner-after dinner-in bed. Two nice people, through no fault of their own, find themselves in a lot of trouble, then get caught up in a web of corporate greed from which they may not escape alive. But in the process they find themselves. This book is great fun to read, chocked full of physical and emotional suspense, from page one to the ending .. and what an incredible nail-biter ending it has! I was turning the pages so fast, it's like aerobic reading! I can't wait for Brogan's next novel.
