Summary: A Wonderfully Intriguing Mystery
Review: As former police captain in Barcelona, Spain (1985-1995)I can attest to the accuracy of the acts of terrorism described by Joseph Steven in his book, The Spanish Enigma. Also, the premise of the book and the story built on it is very, very believable. By the time I finished reading the book I felt I knew David Croft intimately.

Review: It is always a pleasure to discover a new author whose work is so well written that it keeps me glued to my chair as I read page after page of a well-wrought, tightly woven mystery. The theft of a famous painting brings together an international cast of interesting and in some cases frightening characters from Japan, New York, London and Spain. Add a fascinating plot, love, murder, betrayal, surprising twists and turns at the most unexpected times -- and you have one heck of good read from a new author who makes his debut with this impressive first novel. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a fast-paced mystery thriller.

Review: The fact that Joseph Steven so cleverly based The Spanish Enigma on actual facts that happened during the Spanish Civil War makes the book ever so original, beyond the cookie-cutter, formula that characterize so many stories now-a-days. The hero, David Croft is excellently defined and following his roller coaster ride makes for an adrenaline pumping read. Fasten your seat belt because The Spanish Enigma is an exhilarating trip.
