Rating: Summary: A fascinating work. Review: "Dream Catcher Games" thoroughly engaged me. It's not only a thriller, but a a love story on many levels. The writer conveys his passion for baseball and ballparks in most unusual ways. A romance plays out too. The author certainly has no love for owners of Major League ballclubs. Baseball fans will relate when the author takes on the owners of real-life baseball franchises through his fictional scenarios. They are portrayed as money-grubbing, dishonest, and foolhardy. You may even recognize one or two. Southern Californians, in particular, will enjoy the many colorful venues the author uses to tell this fast-paced, often action-filled story.
Rating: Summary: And the beat goes on Review: "Dream Catcher Games" is the extraordinary new novel from acclaimed and world renown journalist John Nunes. The story is intricate yet entertaining and, once begun, becomes a compulsory page turner. Nunes continues to amaze me with his success in writing sports fiction while others just completely fall short. Jump on the bandwagon now before a lifetime of novels by this man has passed you by.

Rating: Summary: Sports Betting combined with Fantasy Baseball= HomeRun Review: I found it refreshing that author John Nunes takes a journalistic approach in his first novel, "DreamCatcher Games". As an effective plot-thickening device, he penned several newspaper articles that appear throughout the book. They are written by sports cloumnist Chet Carnation, one of the main characters in this story that places an Indian casino on the California Coast. I also like the way that Nunes lambastes Major League Baseball for its idiotic business practices and portrays Vegas and Mexican casion owners as the bad guys. And finally, I enjoy his take on fantasy baseball. A subject I haven't ever seen in fiction before. This might be a first. The author is clever in his "what-if" scenarios, and the multi-layered story has its page-turner moments later in the book. If you are into sports, gambling, and baseball, this book is for you. If you are fascinated with the Native American casino phenomena taking place across the U.S., "DreamCatcher Games" will intrigue you.
Rating: Summary: Baseball geeks unite! Review: Really enjoyed how this clever author went after the greedy lords of the baseball realm in "DreamCatcher Games." Totally appreciated his portrayal of the Nevada and Baja gaming czars as a bunch of bloodthirsty, mob-like characters afraid of what the California Indian-owned DreamCatcher Stadium/Casino portends for the future. Simply put, the villains are running scared. The American Indian is rapidly taking over the nation's casino gaming business - particularly in California. In the world that Nunes has created, the establishment casino corporations want a cut of the Indians' bold new venture, but they are cut out. It's obvious that Nunes is angry with the jokers who own Major League Baseball, and he makes them look like the gazillionaire fools that they truly are. It is quite evident that the author loves the game. Perhaps "DC Games" makes the kind of statement necessary for change. As a writer of screenplays, I easily envisioned "DreamCatcher" adapted for the big screen. In short, Nunes has created an adult fantasyland situated on the glistening Southern California coast. It's got everything that sports fans, gamblers and beach lover's desire. Heck, I'm on my way to DreamCatcher Stadium/Casino right now. Baseball geeks everywhere unite!
