Summary: Gunner Star is a wild ride.
Review: Enter into the psyche of burned out yuppie Joe Fenton, a man down on his luck who has reached a breaking point. At his darkest hour he meets a mysterious man named Gunner Star.

Gunner Star is a sensational character, a larger than life persona that is a cross between Superman and Conan the Barbarian. If this were a film one could easily imagine Vin Diesel playing the role.

Under the guidance of Gunner Star, Joe Fenton re-invents himself and begins a frenzied, testosterone fueled journey of revenge and redemption.

Heavily entrenched in the bodybuilding subculture, Gunner Star pays homage to everything from the 1950/60's sleazy pulp paperbacks to sci-fi films and legendary hollywood composer Jerry Goldsmith.

Gunner Star is a wild, inspirational ride. A great read read for anyone who likes their fiction fast moving, off center and with a colorful edge of satire.

Summary: I love this guy Gunner Star!
Review: Imagine Vin Diesel as superman and you'd be close to summing up Gunner Star, the testosterone fueled hero of Caterino's debut novel. Written in the style of Chuck Palahniuk, Gunner Star is a cinematic page turner that will fill your head with images of four color crack.
So intense is the action and imagery that I had to resort to reading Gunner Star during the day, because it literally kept me awake at night. Caterino uses his screenwriting skills to full effect piling on scene after scene that fuse the anarchist glee of Fight Club with the revenge tales of Silver Age comic books.
But this just isn't another fanboy rehashing a Batman movie. Gunner Star shows flashes of brilliance as Caterino tells his story of Joe Benton, a broken man, who taps into his inner rage through the mentoring of the larger than life Gunner Star.
Filled with beautiful women, well written fight scenes, and a sprinkling of sex, Gunner Star will certainly appeal to boys of all ages, but women who enjoyed movies like Total Recall, Jacob's Ladder and of course the aforementioned Fight Club will love it too. I say movies because so vivid are Caterino's descriptions that I felt like I was watching a film instead of reading a book.
I have to admit I was a little disappointed in the ending, but what a small price to pay for the opportunity to spend a few hours with one of the most vivacious characters in pop literature, Gunner Star.
