Summary: Mr. Cross,please write another
Review: It is very rare that after reading a book,I feel the unstoppable urge to pass it on from friend to friend, that is exactly what happened with this nailbiting thriller,I find myself searching for another William Cross novel every time I enter a bookstore,no luck so far,but I am still hopeful.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The most interesting and fun book we ever read.
Review: Right from the beginning, this book had us hooked. My wife and I fought over who got to read each chapter first. It had so many unexpected turns that we looked at each other and said "that didn't just happen!" It was just an excellent book that we highly recommend to anyone with a worped sense of humor.

Summary: A Chilling Tale!!!
Review: This book has been called "the literary equivalent of a knife to the throat...scary, relentless," and I'd have to agree. This tale is in the same category as "Deliverance," but it's gutsier and more frightening, with far more interesting characters.

The story deals with Alex and Jenny Gregory, who were searching for the American dream and a place to settle down and raise children. So they find a small rural town where Alex can work on the police force and Jenny could teach. And they thought they found it in Picksburg, West Virginia, with a population of 1,458. They were wrong, of course, because deep in the backwoods, there lived a family with a different kind of American dream, and there in the isolated mountains, it was easy to make their twisted dream a reality.

No one could hear the growling of guard dogs, the rattle of chains, or the screams of prisoners, but soon, Alex and Jenny would hear it all. Because, as you find out, it's not a dream, but their worst nightmare come true.

This is a white knuckle novel. There's the characters of "Harley," one of the most brutal characters to grace the pages of terror, and his girlfriend, "Ellie," who is his sidekick in crime. Then there's the Chief of Police in the small town, who is in league with Harley, not to mention the local mountain people - Mae (kind of a Granny), and her daughter Sarah. Then there's Wesley, Jenny's strange Uncle, and the prisoners who Alex meets up - Manny, and Ti. There are others, to be sure, but to pick up this book for the price it's being asked, is a swell deal. You won't be sorry you did. But keep the lights on!!! And keep your ears pealed for the howls of dogs!!
