Rating: Summary: Tom Clancy readers - get this book!! Review: Black Alert At Gonzon Station is the recounting
of many people, from many organizations, doing
their jobs with a skill and competence, that
identifies them as nothing less than heroes.
In Hudson's retelling of events there are hints of
the genius of, Le Carre', Clancy, Mclain, and yes
Agatha Christy. All this plays out as a film
unwinding in the projection room of my mind.
Is it good movie making material? In the hands
of a novice script writer Black Alert would be a
good film. In the hands of a good writer, maybe
even even hudson, it would be a GREAT film.
409 Pages, 24 hours and telling of an event
scenario that could, and probably did, change
the course of electronic systems development
for the entire world. Is it over? Not on your life!
Whats next? Go ask Julian Hudson, I'm not on his "A" list of people to talk too. Was it real? Is it
real? Does anyone really know? All the pieces are still on the board and they are all still in
motion and the course of military strategy and employment, as we think we kinow it, has
forever changed. go figure........... Roger Daniel
Rating: Summary: Great Read for Navy thriller buffs Review: I bought the book to read on a plane trip. Thought I would just "get started to get the characters down", but wound up reading it all in one night. Really builds to some suspense, but ending is rather anti-climatic, for some reason.
Rating: Summary: great book!; style of an unpolised Clancy Review: I bought the book to read on a plane trip. Thought I would just "get started to get the characters down", but wound up reading it all in one night. Really builds to some suspense, but ending is rather anti-climatic, for some reason.
Rating: Summary: Great Read for Navy thriller buffs Review: Just finished Black Alert. Great whodunit with many twists and turns. Slow at the start but builds momentum throughout - Couldn't put it down!
Rating: Summary: convoluted and ham-handed Review: Write what you know! Unfortunately, Mr. Hudson doesn't know of what he writes in this lame, poorly constructed "thriller." It's painfully obvious that he has never served in the Navy. His British roots are almost laughably apparent here as he attempts to create dialogue between American servicemen. Moreover, he attempts to wow his readers with an over-reliance of contrived, library-derived technospeak, rather than offering up fresh, compelling characters and crisp plotting.
