Rating: Summary: PAGE BURNER WITH SOLID PLOT Review: by Tim Robbins This fun summer read goes down like popcorn: rich and buttery. The plot will satisfy mystery lovers. The dialogue and characterization of the kids works very well. You'll find yourself compelled to read just one more chapter before turning in for the night, cranking up the radio to an oldies station, and tucking the covers tightly under your chin.

Rating: Summary: The boogeyman's gonna get ya, if you don't watch out!! Review: This was not at all what I expected, but that, as it turns out, was not a bad thing. Set in a small town in Wisconsin in the '60s this coming-of-age story is enfolded within a mystery. Local legend tells of a killer, The SinEater, who reappears each fall and abducts women and children. While on a camping trip with his boyhood buddies, Robbie and friends are pursued by an ominous, black '54 Caddy. In their effort to escape, they discover a body.As a subplot, the town's prejudice manifests in the form of the Klan, who attempts to dissuade the father of Robbie's girlfriend-a Catholic lawyer-from running for district attorney. During the course of events, Robbie tries to solve the dual mystery: the identity of the Klansmen, and the killer. The SinEater. The two are related or maybe not. Nevertheless, no matter which way he turns, Robbie can't escape the deadly hunt. True to the mystery formula, we are given clues that point in one direction, only to be dashed by a new set of circumstances, which lead us down another path of suspicion. I won't give away exactly when or how Elvis makes his appearance, but when it comes its well worth the wait. He and his bodyguard, Sonnny West, save the day. A colorful cast of local townsfolk peppers the story with humor. The kids and the small-town characters reminded me of Stephen King's novella "The Body" that was adapted for film as "Stand by Me."
