Summary: Calendar of Death
Review: 4 paws

Judith Quinn Farley is 29, a genealogist, and one of Colorado's wealthiest women. Police Lt. Tig Grogan is her live-in lover and fiancé. Their wedding day is approaching, which means having to deal with Quinn's mother and a return trip to the family homestead - not something high on Tig's list of favorite pastimes. Quinn's mother is no fan of Tig, either.

During an incredible plains storm, one of the "locals" is shot at close range in his truck and left on the road. For a month, everyone considers it an isolated incident - until the next body turns up on the first of the next month - also shot at close range with an identical clue left a the scene, but in a totally different part of the state. Quinn, determined to become a journalist, sets out to beat Tig in solving the puzzle of what ties the men together, and in the process learns more about her own past. When the third victim is discovered, Tig tries to convince Quinn to delay the wedding - which almost drives Quinn's mother over the edge.

The second installment in Veronica Dolan's series is as delightful as the first. The spirited, strong-minded Quinn and the stoic Tig play off well against each other. Not a cozy, but more of a classical mystery, I look forward to seeing the characters develop with time as Ms Dolan and her characters mature. Definitely keep an eye on this author!

Summary: "Must read" for mystery lovers
Review: Calendar of Death
by Veronica Dolan
ISBN: 140337239X, [$$$] www.amazon.com

It is well known in the highly competitive publishing world that one of the most difficult tasks for an author with an acclaimed first novel is to exceed that mark in the next work. Veronica Dolan has done just that with her most recent spell-binding mystery, Calendar of Death.

Calendar of Death is a "must read" for anyone who enjoys being swept up in a good story, meeting interesting people, and pitting their intuition and logic against the imaginative creativity of a fine author.
