Review: by Patricia McGrew

Two years ago Marcus "Snake" Gallego left Henry County and Detective LeAnne McVeigh. Not telling LeAnne why he was leaving, she thought he just wanted to leave her. When Snake finally comes home, he brings Egan "Villain" Tate and a girl back with him. When they roll into town, LeAnne and her best friend Whitney Montgomery, the town doctor, are standing on the sidewalk. LeAnne is not sure she can go through the heartbreak again.

Tate and Snake have brought Ginny Summers to this small town for a reason. She had been the girlfriend of Randy, the leader of the Lords of Lucifer bike gang. After a drug supplier raped her, she had turned him into the Feds. Randy was not going to take losing his drug supplier lightly. They had hopes of hiding here awhile, away from the Lords and the Feds. Tate knew that his life would be over if Randy knew that he helped her escape.

Whiney is attracted to Tate, but she had worked to hard to be the town doctor and didn't want to lose her respectability by hanging out with a lowlife. When Ginny turns up dead in exactly the same way Snake's wife had two years ago, they knew the killer was back. The crime was still unsolved. Whitney is the acting coroner and LeAnne is the detective in charge. Snake had an alibi, so it is looking like Tate will be charged. But then someone from the Lords arrives to take Tate back to the gang he had walked away from, with the Feds not far behind. Will the gang get Tate back? Will they use Whitney to get to him? Will Snake get past Leanne's defenses?

Eyes of Betrayal is the sequel to Kiss of Deceit. This story has everything: dead bodies, Harleys, romance and a lot of suspense. I like the way Ms. Rasey developed Tate's character. Snake and Tate are bikers who have developed a sense of honor. LeAnne and Whitney are strong women with a taste for bad boys. This is a very fast-paced novel. The end is worth the whole book. I didn't want it to end. I hope Ms Rasey is busy writing.

Summary: A real treat to read
Review: Marcus "Snake" Gallego accompanied by Egan "Villain" Tate and Ginny Summers returns to Henry County, Ohio to try to keep the woman safe from her biker friends. If the California based Lord's Chief Randy Craig learns where Ginny is he will kill her and probably former member Villain too as no one quits the gang.

Someone kills Ginny in the same manner, tied to a bedpost, in which Snake's wife was murdered two years ago. Homicide detective LeAnne McVeigh investigates the murder that brings her former lover Marcus back into her life. Though she loves Marcus, LeAnne is angry with him for deserting her without a look back. Serving as temporary coroner, Doctor Whitney Montgomery also works the case, but finds an attraction with the aptly named Villain. While LeAnne and Whitney wonder if the one each of them loves is the killer, the Lords are coming to town. Randy does not mind running over the innocent if it enables him to get to Egan, who knows that his beloved doctor is such a target.

EYES OF BETRAYAL, the sequel to the taut KISS OF DECEIT, returns two strong characters from the first novel. The story line starts at a dark rapid speed and never slows down until the climax. Readers will wonder who killed Snake's wife and Ginny, whether the biker gang will murder townsfolk including the two women, and will either or both couples stay together if they survive. Fans of terse thrillers will want to read this one, the previous one, and what one phone call from the grave sets up the next Patricia Rasey's chiller.

Review: Two years ago "Snake" Marcus Gallego left town on his onyx Harley Davidson, taking Detective LeAnne McVeigh's heart with him. Now he returns with a raven-haired stranger that immediately captures both LeAnne and Doctor Whitney Montgomery's attention. Worse, he also brings a beautiful woman. "Villain" Egan Tate accompanies Snake on a mission to protect Virginia from her former boyfriend who happens to be a big league gang leader.

Unfortunately, within twenty-four hours, Virginia is found murdered in a style reminiscent of the murder of Snake's wife. Suspicion immediately falls to Tate who does not have an alibi. Extraordinary sexual chemistry leads to an unexpected relationship between Whitney and Tate, and she eventually provides him with an alibi. That lie, even when it becomes truth, will lead to passion and gristly danger beyond her imagining.

Readers of KISS OF DECEIT were aghast when author Patricia Rasey daringly broke all romantic conventions, allowing her hero to ride into the sunset without his heroine. Such a break of convention marks Rasey's work, as she imbues her text with the harsh realities and subtle nuances that make her novels dazzle fans time and again. The fast paced EYES OF BETRAYAL continues to keep fans guessing as to the identity of a vicious murderer, echoing the unsolved killing of Snake's wife from KISS OF DECEIT. With surgeon like precision, Rasey cuts to the heart of human motivation, revealing the striking similarities of seemingly totally disparate characters. Each scene springs vividly to life, living in the imagination long beyond when the last page is turned. Indeed, like the man she attributes to inspiring 'Villain', author Rasey writes with style and class. Fans just cannot get enough of her bad boy heroes and will be eagerly awaiting her next novel. EYES OF BETRAYAL earns the WordWeaving Award for Excellence.
