Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Another Spellbinder Review: Meg O'Brien has done it again..another book that keeps you turning page after page. Guessing "who did it" changes continuously. This is a real thrillerthat also eerily coincided with Seattle's earthquake. The plot in Gathering Lies gets deeper and deeperas the story proresses. For all that enjoy a good mystery and a thrillerthis is the book to read.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A Seattle earthquake sends women struggling for survival. Review: Sarah Lansing and five other women had come to the writers' colony of Thornberry to find peace, quiet and seclusion from their hectic lives. That seclusion is quickly disrupted when an earthquake hits the tiny island near Seattle, and the women must struggle for their own survival. When Gabe Rossi arrives to provide assistance, the women accept him at first but become suspicious when one of their own mysteriously dies. Was it an accident, or was it a brutal murder? This sketchy character study of six women struggling for survival was not as diverse as it could have been. Since Sarah was the main character here, more attention should have been paid to her arrest and subsequent trial. This would have provided a much deeper contrast and a more interesting twist to the story.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent Book Review: This is a typical Meg O'Brien book;exciting, suspenseful, with many surprises in store. It is well written and keeps you turning the pages with the suspense mounting with each turnof a page. You will change the--Who Did It..many times over. This book is without a doubt a five star, it is an excellant thriller. I'm looking forward to her next book. It amazes me that each book Meg writes seems to surpass her last. Great work Meg!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Outstanding Survival Story Review: This is my first Meg O'Brien book and I must say I really enjoyed it. I loved the story line and the fact that it was written in first person past and present. I also enjoyed the characters and their colorful personalities. The story was very suspenseful and full of surprises. You will keep going back and forth on "who did it." And you will be surprised at the end. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes suspense.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Novel, Or Lesson? Review: When I started reading this book, I thought I had wasted my money. It did become interesting, eventually. This story has a lot of twists like any good mystery, but is it a novel or a public service message? Is the author a novelist or a lecturer? Parts of this story were buried beneath the author's preaching. I read novels to be entertained, not lectured on the problems in society. I am well aware of them. The last chapter contains more preaching than story. I won't be reading any more of Meg O'Brien's books.
