Rating: Summary: Rivetting! Review: At one time, Dixie Flanagan was a prosecutor. Now she is a bounty hunter with strong ties to the various Texas police departments. She is alternately tough on her prey, but a marshmallow when it comes to those she cherishes. She is especially tender towards her neighbor Edna Pine, who she has known for years and thinks of as a loving "surrogate aunt." So when she observes the law abiding Edna robbing a bank, Dixie is more than just mortified and shocked. The police follow Edna in a high-speed chase that leads to a deadly shoot-out and the robber killed. This incident is the area's third granny hold-up in the last few weeks. One woman escaped clean with her loot, but Edna and a friend died in their attempted robberies.A group called the People kill two of the officers involved in the Edna shoot-out. They threaten further retaliation if specific politicians fail to resign. The police suspect Edna's son Marty as the prime culprit. He hires his long time friend and former sweetheart Dixie to investigate what happened to his mother. Dixie goes down many paths before realizing the true answer lies much closer to home. The gifted Chris Rogers provides readers with an understandable heroine. Dixie balances her needs to contribute to the common good of society with her ability to hold her own in a male dominated arena. She knows when to lead with her heart and when to proceed using her brain. The story line of CHILL FACTOR is mesmerizing as the various subplots work together to fashion a tense climax. Readers will demand that Mr. Rogers provides more tales in Dixie's neighborhood. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Way to go Dixie! Review: Chill Factor is another terrific novel from a talented author that explores manipulation and mind control. Chill Factor offers a riveting read with great characters in interesting settings. Hard to put this one down.
Rating: Summary: Another great "Factor" Review: Chris Rogers continues to keep us totally involved with Dixie Flanagan and her man Parker. I loved the first two books in this series and this one lived up to my expectations, though I think we saw a gentler Dixie this time. The writing is smooth and the story gets the reader involved immediately. I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Dixie is back! Review: Do you know where your grandmother is right now? She might be so lonely she's turned to someone with a hidden agenda for comfort. She might be robbing a bank. She might be getting herself killed. Chris Roger's heroine returns in this third novel in the Dixie Flannigan series and Chill Factor will have you wondering from page one how some sweet old women connected up with such nasty bad guys, but the biggest question will be, How can Dixie stop these mind-control experts from claiming more victims? A satisfying read in a great series with a strong heroine.
Rating: Summary: Good read.... Review: I really enjoy Chris Roger's books, but wouldn't mind seeing less of Parker in the coming books of the series. Why is it a female character who whines about the dangers of her husband/boyfriend's job is a harpy, but we excuse the same behavior from a male character? Love Dixie, but Parker's got to go!
Rating: Summary: Good read but it drags a little. Review: I really enjoyed reading Chill Factor. The story was interesting but I just did not find myself as involved as when I was reading her previous two Dixie Flannigan novels. I would still recommend this book to someone looking for a good read, with a great female heroine. I am looking foward to the next installment and hope that Parker will make up his mind already! Do you want to be just friends or do want to be lovers? Quit stringing Dixie along while you twiddle your thumbs. I would not mind seeing Dixie give Parker a taste of his own medicine in the next book. One more thing, this reader would like to see more of Slim Jim McGrue. That is one character that I would like to know more about.
Rating: Summary: Stunning achievement Review: Move over and make room for Dixie Flannigan, a tough new gal whose exciting adventures will soon have her biographer, Chis Rogers, a household name. Great writing, great action, memorable characters. This author will be a star up there in the ranks of Cornwell, Grafton and Paretsky. Don't miss Dixie's latest escapade.
