Summary: Y. Scott's Read
Review: A tantalizing story--the thirst of crime/justice buffs will be as quenched as well as those who still believe in love. As with life, this ending is unbelievable!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Loved the twists and turns
Review: I couldn't put the book down. I loved how you were kept guessing as well as the dual plots. I couldn't wait for the next book to come out and when it did - the ride continued. The writing is very vivid and descriptive. I could see this book being turned into a movie and would love to see that happen in the future.

Summary: A great read!
Review: I LOVED the book. I could not stop reading it. I couldn't wait to get off from work or get to lunch to read some of it. I love the characters and the story. I will be getting your next installment of this series man. I really enjoyed how you developed Jerrard's character with self confidence, arrogance, inner turmoil, sensitivity and romantic side. Although you show how he has grown, there is still plenty of room for growth and now with the way you ended the book i see a new chapter within

his psyche to explore and meditate on. Of course, i loved the ladies you had in the book and i was very surprised that you had killed Sasha but i knew there had to be some remedy to his relationship with her because his lifestyle doesn't appear to really lead to having a long standing relationship. Julie as fine as she was even she was getting on my nerves in how to severe his ties with her. As a guy who has been divorced, i understand how you can love someone and although the relationship is over you never will forget the feelings you once had for them even you have moved on.

Summary: Finished It Quickly and Enjoyed the Read
Review: I really enjoyed Love & Justice because it had a dual plot, since it was a detective thriller as well as a love story. Rique Johnson did a fine job of telling this tragic story. I am not an avid reader, but I chose this book after going to a book event and understanding the author's enthusiam towards his work.
The decision to read this book was a good one because it was a page-turner. I couldn't not wait to find out what would happen next. I would recommend it to all mature adults who want to get wrapped up in suspense and become involved with a complicated character such as this book's Jason, the detective.

Summary: Love Mystery and Murder
Review: In his debut novel, Love and Justice, author Rique Johnson, introduces readers to Virginia City's incredibly talented and sexy Detective Jason Jerrard. Detective Jerrard, who has no regard for the protocol that is expected of those whose duty is to "protect and serve," proves to readers to be a hero in the end, despite the tactics that continually kept him on suspension.

As Detective Jerrard works to get over his ex-wife, Julie, who suddenly wants him back, he meets Sasha, a prospective girlfriend who warns him of a jealous nature in the beginning.

This book is filled with several different story lines that include rape, murder, sex and lust. However, the different story lines were confusing to me as to what the general theme of the story was supposed to be about.

Although this book got off to a slow start, after the initial hump, I found myself trying to read faster to get to the end. Once at the end, there was a startling chain of events that left me with my mouth open.

For a first book, Love and Justice was a good read. I would like to read more of Mr. Johnson's works.

Summary: A Means to An End
Review: Jason Jarred is a highly self-confident agent of law enforcement and long ago apparently tossed protocol to the side. Playing by his own set rules, he throws caution to the wind, and devises methods as he goes along. Time and time again, when the smoke clears, he has managed to land on his feet. His last directive was to take down the maniacal serial killer/rapist that terrorizes Virginia City and by any means necessary; he intends to do just that. The entire city watches, waiting for the moment that all can breathe a littler easier. As if the pressure of apprehending the elusive, `Invisible Man,' is not enough, with pleas of reconciliation former wife Julie makes unwanted yet frequent appearances, she is determined to regain his love and trust, come what may. Then there is the pressure of demands made by newfound love interest Sasha Fong, thrown into mix. Can Detective Jarred maintain his focus while trying to balance his personal life or in the end, will a slip-up cost him everything?

Written in third person omniscient, I found Love and Justice to be a lumbering read. Early on one's interest is piqued when we find ourselves in the world of the twisted criminal as he meticulously stalks his victims. In the midst of all the mayhem and with what initially seems to be little reason, we are taken on a leisurely stroll through the blossoming romance of Jason and Sasha. Author, Rique Johnson provides great detail into the romance which weighs the story down and I failed to appreciate the value of it. My curiosity and questions centered around the villain and what I will dare to refer to as the primary dilemma in this story. I also felt that there wasn't enough invested into the development of this one particular plot but the story overall went a little beyond its natural stopping point. I still question whether this is a suspense with romance or a romance with suspense? Perhaps it is outside of the box, merely a snapshot into the life of Jason Jarred, and brings something fresh to the literary world.

Summary: Steamy, Thrilling, Surprising
Review: Love & Justice is a wonderfully written book. It focuses on Detective Jason Jerrard with the Virginia City police dept. and his unorthodox ways of catching criminals. Among the storylines are an ex-wife that wants him back, a serial rapist/killer on the loose, and a new girlfriend with issues of her own. I purchased this book (...)and couldn't wait to start reading it. Once I began, I didn't want to put it down. I loved the varying story lines and how the mystery slowly unfolded until everything came together. The ending left me surprised and speechless. The story was well thought out and well written. It's the kind of edge-of-your-seat book that I enjoy reading. I look forward to reading more!

Summary: A Valiant Effort
Review: Rique Johnson mixes romance with police drama in his debut novel, Love & Justice. Virginia City's finest detective, Jason Jerrard, is probably every Chief of Police's nightmare. He is good at his job, but is insubordinate and utilizes unorthodox methods as a means to solving his cases. Resolving the city's toughest cases had not been a problem for him, until he is stumped by a serial rapist/murderer ravishing the city. In the midst of his investigation of this case Jason is temporarily suspended from the force. During his suspension he happens to meet Sasha at his favorite restaurant while eating his favorite food, runny scrambled eggs. Immediately, they hit if off and begin a whirlwind hot and steamy romance. While Jason is romancing Sasha, his ex-wife is plotting to win him back. She is determined to have Jason at all costs.

Love & Justice has steamy sex scenes, suspense and a wild unexpected conclusion. I am unsure whether Johnson intended this novel to be a romance with a mystery or a mystery with romance. So much of the novel is devoted to the romance, that I wondered if the author had forgotten about the rapist/murderer running rampant through the city. Just as this reader was beginning to lose interest, the suspense and action began. The dialogue between characters was stiff and the flashbacks were not clearly defined and many times it took a while to figure out the characters were reminiscing about the past. If you enjoy romantic thrillers this may be the book for you.
