Rating: Summary: Publish and Perish Review: Bestselling mystery writer, Jessica Fletcher, is embarking on the trip of a lifetime. The first stop is Washington D.C. -- anda series of lavish receptions, culminating in a meeting with the President. Then it's on to Russia, where Jessica and several publishing colleagues build a publishing industry -- and to help nurture the struggling young democracy. Despite warnings from several friends about Moscow's high crime rate, Jessica can't wait to see the magnificent sights of the city.
Rating: Summary: Murder in Moscow Murder to Take Review: Having read all of the Murder, She Wrote books in this series so far, I have to wonder WHAT Donald Bain was thinking? This was far from being a whodunnit, and comes closer to a whydoesanyonecare? Bad plot, bad writing, disappointing and unappealing characters, murder victims you don't care about and would like to see the killer(s) get away with it. And last, but not least, Jessica stuck in an embarrassing Mrs. Pollifax rip-off. There are too many other stories in the series which are entertaining. Finally, Mr. Bain or his editors need to do more fact checking regarding series characters, history, names and certainly location.
Rating: Summary: NOT UP TO THE USUAL STANDARDS Review: I LIKE MURDER MYSTERIES. I ENJOY TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHO THE MURDERER IS AND THEN SEEING IF I AM RIGHT WHEN THE BOOK FINALLY TELLS ME, BUT THIS TIME THEY NEVER DID SAY WHO WAS REALLY THE KILLER. WE WERE LEFT HANGING AT THE END. WHO WAS THE KILLER? DID SOMEONE TRY TO POISON JESSICA? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GIRL? WAS SHE KILLED? WAS SHE STILL ALIVE? I WAS REALLY VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS STORY, AND I USUALLY JUST LOVE ALL "THE MURDER SHE WROTE" BOOKS. I REALLY LIKE JESSICA. PLEASE GO BACK TO THE OLD FORMAT OF STORIES
Rating: Summary: Moscow Mayhem Review: It's a long way home from Cabot Cove, Maine, but Jessica has business to attend to in the dangerous, peril city of Moscow, Russia. As other readers of this novel would call it drawn out and boring, I give it five stars for excellent writing. Suspense is abound in each chapter, as is Bain's authentic writing style. I am comparing "Murder in Moscow" to other interesting, suspenseful and cozy Murder, She Wrote mysteries such as "Brandy and Bullets" and "A Deadly Judgment." Before you listen to all the nonchalant critiques from dissapointed readers, I suggest that you give the book a read through. If you're an intrigued reader of the Murder, She Wrote series, you won't be dissapointed in "Murder in Moscow."
Rating: Summary: O.k. Review: Outside of the stero-typed Russians swilling Vodka on almost every single page of this page turner, this book was a lot of fun. I ended up sitting in my favorite Chicago diner for about an hour finishing up this book, as it becomes such a page turner in the last 7 chapters that it is impossible to put down. My first thought is to say "this is really a book for Murder She Wrote fans", the plot is spelled out nicely in the conclusion. This may put off some hard core mystery readers who like to "solve" the mystery before it is spelled out for them. On the other hand, following suit with the program, you have to wait until the end to find out what happened. This is what I expected, and was delighted with the book. And don't be surprised that dead bodies just keep showing up...this is a Murder She Wrote story, Jessica would be out of business if that didn't happen! I think that MSW fans, as well as new comers will enjoy this fun novel by Donald Bain and Jessica Fletcher set in the new Russia.

Rating: Summary: O.k. Review: The Jessica Novels are good mystery thrillers but the crimes of Agatha Christie our much better. So to you I would read this book and Agatha Christie Books.
Rating: Summary: Questions but no Answers Review: This was almost as bad as Brandy and Bullets! This book reads like a (would-be) government conspiracy thriller (and I hope that in the future Bain and 'Fletcher' will leave this sort of writing to the experts...). When I read a "Murder, She Wrote" I expect a mystery not a paranoid 'thriller' with bugged phone lines and complicated chase scenes from shadowy killers.
While this 'mystery had plenty of questions (2 murders and an attempted murder) it lacked any real clues or concrete suspects. The 'plot' hinges on government espionage, double agents and vodka--lots of vodka. When I finished the book I still didn't really know what was going on. The murders were never really solved and I got very tired of the government refusing to tell what was really going on...
I also would have liked to see the rest of the tour group (or at least some of the tour group) as real characters instead of just part of the backdrop. Definitely one of the worst of the series, but still better than some mystery series.
If you liked Brandy and Bullets then you should like this one.
